Manchin already said he didn't want to create an 'entitlement mentality' with BBB, so it wouldn't surprise me that he said poor people would use CTC money to buy drugs. :yeshrug:

He definitely said something along those lines, even if that's not the exact phrasing he used. That's the same argument Republicans were using against passing another stimulus.

Joe Manchin fires back at angry Dems: 'They ought to push me' into the Republican Party - Raw Story - Celebrating 17 Years of Independent Journalism

:duck:.

He does not get the attention he so clearly craves if he's a Republican. That Fox interview yesterday wouldn't exist because they would have just got McConnell to explain why he wasn't putting BBB to a vote.

Only way he switches parties is if this is his final term. He's not winning a Republican primary.

I hope nobody's falling for this shyt. :snoop:
Hes not switching. He’d become an independent before becoming a Republican.

He also basically runs the Democratic Party in WV

Just a few days ago Manchin got in a shouting match with a journalist for daring to suggest he didn't support the child tax credit. He's been playing all sides at all times, and finally that Fox News gamble blew up in his face. Now he has to face the music with nowhere to run.

The child tax credit might be the most transformational aspect of BBB. I've read that Romney has a child tax credit that may even be better. If that's the case put it in the bill, pump up the money, and dare Manchin to say no.

I'd be fine with gutting much of the climate change money to beef up the tax credit and and pre-k. Speaking of pre-k lets not forget Manchin was firmly against it a month ago. I wouldn't be stunned AT ALL if he switches up and decides to support the tax credit while reversing back to not wanting pre-k. Maximum pressure needs to be applied on this coward.

Nah, Climate Change is too important in the long term and this would be basically the the last chance to pass any climate change legislation for probably decades.

I say just make Manchin vote it down. If he really wants to block it then force him to have that as his legacy. :yeshrug:
