This is false and it's not "Morning QBing". They touted the top line number when they were going back and forth and settled on the $3.5T number. Their intention was to showcase that BBB would be the largest single piece of transformative legislation introduced that would directly impact the people. Their heart was in the right place but they failed in the execution.
You and @Pressure can say this all you want but it sounds stupid to people who lived through it. And I think you’re a good poster but this is the most nonsensical shyt you have ever posted. Like there is no world in which what you’re saying makes sense. I even tried to Google this shyt to give you an out. In the original press release Sanders mentioned the cost one time and then dedicated two pages to the policy. It’s not their fault that the media focused on that on a way they never do it to Republicans. I won’t even argue this anymore because you’re being stubborn and insulting my intelligence and everyone else’s.

I don't understand why you're acting as if I'm completely making this up - and you're right, it isn't worth arguing over because its in the past.

2 months ago prior to the deal that they thought they had to move both BIF and BBB together:

And several members of the caucus followed up with the same messaging ( I won't inundate you with posts from all the progressive members I follow, I'll just throw out a sample)

At no point from then till now have they attempted to stress the top line was spread out over a 10 year period, regardless of who may have originated the top line talking point. That is the issue and how they've made themselves susceptible to attacks on spending and the deficit. This is a fact that even very liberal pundits at Crooked Media have even been pointing out.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
The CBO is going to release the numbers in pieces:

CBO’s Schedule for Releasing a Cost Estimate for H.R. 5376, the Build Back Better Act

The Congressional Budget Office is in the process of preparing a cost estimate for the current version of H.R. 5376, the Build Back Better Act (Rules Committee Print 117-18 incorporating a manager’s amendment by Congressman Yarmuth). Over the past several months, we have provided technical assistance to committees as they developed their proposals for various parts of the bill. The analysis of the bill’s many provisions is complicated, and CBO will provide a cost estimate for the entire bill as soon as practicable.

We anticipate releasing estimates for individual titles of the bill as we complete them, some of which will be released this week. Other estimates will take longer, particularly for provisions in some titles that interact with those in other titles. When we determine a release date for the cost estimate for the entire bill, we will provide advance notice.

@Hood Critic if your argument is that they mentioned it was a 3.5 trillion dollar bill. No one is questioning that. You made it seem as if they were using the number as part of the argument to support it and that was only used to demonstrate that it wasn’t the bill liberals would have wanted. It was never an argument about 3.5 trillion is why you should support it and whether it was 3.5 or 909 million the arguments against it would’ve been the same. Anyone claiming otherwise, clearly hasn’t paid attention to American politics over the past 40 years. That’s why it’s Monday morning QBing, and shoulda coulda woulda when we saw them pivot to talking about what is in the bill and have widespread support and they still suffered the same arguments. It’s an inconsequential fact.

The point is the messaging, something I've made multiple comments on them being poor at.

Everyone questions their messaging. I’m not a Dem apologist.
I don't believe you to be, I'm just supporting the position that they have fumbled the messaging on BBB by accepting the narrative of attaching its top line cost every time they attempt to motivate the base on an agenda Biden ran on.
