That’s what we’re calling it this year ehh? :mjlol:
yes. im a democrat, who doesn't need anything from the government, loves low taxes, thinks that the country was pretty much fine in 2019, has no interest in an open border, thinks that covid is fukking over, and that olympian athlete bruce jenner is not a woman

which are all, apparently, controversial opinions on the left :mjlol:

You need to come out the closet man, aint no shame in being a republican. I mean, you already use their lingo : calling AOC and them communists, using the same rhetoric against masks and proudly stating you're right wing. :yeshrug:

HL needs more republicans anyway :lolbron:

You complained about people treating politics like sports.

I asked you what YOU are doing, as a man, to impact your own local community and make it a better place.

Your response was nothing. So, in the end, you were just projecting when saying folks treat politics like sports. Because you, yourself, aren't even invested in change in your own community besides Monday morning Quarterbacking.

It's pathetic.

16% of Biden voters lines up with HL leftists :francis:
That may be the case but I don’t know how we’re spinning the projected Democrat losses and poll numbers as a positive. It says something the BIF got passed and his numbers don’t seem to be getting any sort of bump. I think it’s a combination of Republicans being Republicans and the base feeling like they’re not getting shyt while Manchin plays president. Joe is going to need to get on what appears to be a winning streak. Like this has nothing to do with being miserable it’s just calling it what it is. I would start doing executive shyt tbh.

You had absolutely nothing but a gotcha question. Local politics is one of the hardest shyt to get into plus find information on. I said fukk it I'll bite maybe he's for real and your reply is "No I gave you a chance now I won't tell you"

I'm not. I made a post above saying the numbers are to be as expected with the lack of major legislation being passed since the Covid bill.

I think things have been pretty stagnant overall and I'd rather them have a real road map for what they'd like to pass and how they will get there.

Trying to stuff everything in one bill was never going to work and instead of being able to say hey we made a 3tn dollar investment in America the conversation is about what isn't in it.

Over promising and underdelivering is problematic.

As far as being perpetually miserable, @Mook is. :manny:

And I agree, Joe should be doing more via executive action and actually being in control and appearing more front and center.

At the end of the day he's an old boring man that was not the first choice for the majority of Americans and Dems and he was propelled to the front almost entirely based on electability and not being a transformative force.

He is and has been a relic of the very institutions that have allowed themselves to be bogged down and not be reflective of what the electorate wants and needs.

But he's always been that. Pardon me for not pretending like this is something new. :manny:

But also don't begrudge for me being straight forward about the BIF being popular legislation, the BBB if passed will help a lot of Americans, and he still has the ability to positively impact the student loan crisis. :manny:

All of that is pragmatic and positive change.

Local politics is easy to get involved in. Much of it is grassroots. Same goes for the work in general outside of elections. Just social and community engagement.

And I wasn't looking for a gotcha, I fukking expected you to take me up on it and show me what's important and how you're trying to impact it or maybe even where you've found your frustrations.

We have a long running joke about progressives, but the reality is I work with a lot of progressives locally to impact change on a local level. Charlotte and mecklenburg county are dem run areas so any change we discuss doesn't involve attempting to be more conservative or playing political football since the other side isn't a part of the conversation right now. :manny:

Jokes aside, if you don't know where to start and easy place may be with your local house rep @Mook.

If they aren't aligned with your personal political ideologies I'd recommend finding one close by who does, start of meaningful conversations by either speaking with them via mail, on the phone, or showing up to their offices when they're available.

My local rep is Alma Adams. She's repped a few different districts from Greensboro to Charlotte due to the crazy redistricting that goes on here in NC. But she's someone I speak with regularly. Reach out to her office and see if they can guide you to someone local who may help.

You could also reach out to my friend April Harley, she's over at Lead NC based out of Raleigh.

My brother's keeper
A bill that has been literally stripped down to universal pre-k (maybe it will get watered down to get Manchin and KS vote). Yeah I would definitely be "complaining" because it looks like it won't have a major impact on folks. Irony of that post:heh:
And the only reason that makes it is because it gets parents back to work quicker aka corporations can see the benefit in it.

The problem with doing things piecemeal is that Manchin and Sinema would never vote for that stuff separately anyway. The whole point of an omnibus bill is to put some of what everyone likes into it to force hands.

And this is the result. A discussion that played out over the top line instead of the values of any specific major initiatives.

In the end you got a lot of water down things instead of a few well implemented and well funded initiatives you can point towards as wins. :yeshrug:
