GC,
Are you really comparing American citizens not having access to clean water to school children being provided low nutrition free lunches?

I thought you guys left the thread when I put up the demographics of that 96% white town

TYRONE GA!
Man stfu

Tax payers are paying for the meals
And those kids deserve better

I swear u lames make me sick

Lunch where I live for my kid in Junior high is over 3 bucks a day. I'm like what happened to 75 cents!!!! :wtf:

But he/we make his shyt. Loaf of bread, pbnj or some deli meat on sale, fruit, snack. You can definitely make shyt cheaper than school lunch nowadays. Add to the fact that your income gotta be below 30k to even get reduced/free lunch out here is ridiculous.

Damn if you see the rest of the monthly menu, them lil eating good. Pizza Hut pizza, Papa Johns pizza, burgers, fried chicken, pork chops, quesadillas.

Whoever produced the news segment just used a random school menu at the end of the piece. Either that, or they flashed what the school is telling the district they are serving , but actually serving breadsticks, and pocketng the difference from the budget.

Looks like American school system serving different ethnic foods than actual food trays from different countries.

First giveaway that it's duck, is that the trays are all the same........second giveaway are the portion sizes......euros and asians don't eat big portions for meals like we do here.

This is false. These were taken by a photographer who traveled to these regions, snapping shots of the food, in an effort to show the contrast between the nutritional intake of children in the wealthiest country in the world and their counterparts abroad.

Did wonder if this was just private school lunch or just school kid lunch in general :patrice:
Those were public school lunches in general. There's a documentary about this - how the lunches and meals served in other countries have way more nutritional value than in the US. In the US, everything revolves around privatization, corporations and profits; as opposed to public health and safety.

Nope

It then got tied into being a failure for Michelle Obama’s lunch program by other people, and now people think these are actual meals from actual cafeterias

People forget to mention parental duties when they mention the "school to prison pipeline" as if children are hatched from eggs.

When they used to air those lockup shows, I did note that the trays & the small milk cartons that inmates use looked just like the stuff that schools use.

Also, when people say "child's only meal of the day", they have to be exaggerating, right? There is public assistance in this country. People might not eat what they want to or as much as they need to, but how many people starve or are under nourished in America?
=====

Having said all that, I get that the current adminstration is trying to be funny here....but children's health is NOTHING to be playing around with. These MFers are devils, for real.
Offer mini bagels & peanut butter if you're trying to cut costs.

breh you're acting like these kids all have responsible parents. they don't. so what's the solution?

What company is serving these shytty free lunches to kids?

I used to work as a cook for Sodexo and the free lunches we prepared for students were actually decent and would actually fill them up.

Theyd get an entree, vegetables, fruit and white or chocolate milk.

depends on the district. some schools spend the dough to ensure their menus are wholesome etc. others don't give a fuk. i used to represent some of sodexo's subcontractors and i remember they used to tell me that one problem is that the districts would start off buying those meals etc but bc they were considerably more expensive than garbage like breadsticks and microwaved cheese, that they would stop ordering the minute budgetary issues come up.

Food banks. Food stamps. Other assistance programs. Dumpster diving behind a Whole Foods or any supermarket if it’s that serious. They throw away all kinds of healthy and plenty edible food items daily. By the dumpster load
Damn.. yall act like you have the answers to everything, sounding like a dumb as shyt, know-it-all. First, food banks are limited in resources. Do you really think there are endless supplies of food being distributed to no end? Food Banks only distribute food items on specific days during the week. Most of the time the food is prepacked and limited to basic rice and grain items, canned food. The family name is put on a list for pick up. In some cases, it's once a week, during limited hours. Food Stamps - Not everyone can qualify for food stamps, there are income restrictions- that's the reason why most public schools offer 'free lunch' options. In addition, the value of food stamps for a family of 3-4, is not enough to last throughout the whole month in some cases. Families without proper nutritional education think that by purchasing cheaper items, they save more- most of the cheaper items are cost effective but not necessarily healthy or have nutritional value. There's a reason why a 12 pack of coke or sprite is $3.00 while a gallon container of orange juice is $6.00. The sugar cereals (froot loops, lucky charms) are 2 for $5.00 but a healthier option like Raisin Bran Crunch is $5.00 by itself. These corporations know that poor or reduced income people are looking to stretch their dollars and push that content on them. "Other assistance Programs".. what other assistance programs?? Yeah, because the US and state governments are making it their first priority to distribute massive amounts of income to the poor. You have all the answers.. what are the specifics..?

Dumpster Diving??? yeah... feed your kid unsanitary food from the garbage, literally. A garbage with contaminants, piss, shyt, tampons, pads, used condoms.. and whatever else could be in there. Throw away all health and plenty edible.. "edible".. how the fuk is it edible if they throw it away? Most food items are prepared at distribution centers and then sent to the local stores. The stores have shipping and receiving areas. So your dumb ass thinks these store managers are just letting people congregate en masse to pick up whatever leftovers they have in food items. I hate people like you.. always passing judgment and thinking every option is a simple solution. and btw, don't respond with some smart azz stereotypical comment or deflection bc I'm not the one. I've experienced both sides of the have and have nots; I know what the deal is.
