Can’t be saved. TLJ did so much damage that it will be impossible to salvage the characters and story while also coming to a conclusion in the last movie of the trilogy. All three of the main OGs are gone..Kylo ended both movies looking weak as fukk, Finn is, the mysterious powerful villain got killed with ease, basically if you’re not Rey you’re fukked. Say what you want about TFA but it did set the trilogy up in a decent spot but all of that was scrapped with the last one. There’s nothing that interests me going forward with the story and I’m a huge Star Wars stan.
This. Force awakens wasn’t perfect but it didn’t need to be. We had plenty of story points that were able to go in interesting directions with promising characters. Then they spent a whole movie shredding the plot, performing characters assassination, and destroying all continuity in the universe where the film is set. JJ shouldn’t be directing episode 9. He should be directing episode 8 going forward while that mess that released last winter gets thrown in the bushes. Nothing can be salvaged from that film.

The only way it can be saved is if it introduced Time Travel and went back and reset a bunch of shyt starting with Episode 7

If these a$$holes would've consulted comic book writere/authors in the first place we wouldn't be trying to figure out how 1 movie is going to save this trainwreck. They are in a truly strange place for a trilogy-The heroes are down and on the outs, yet continue to outwit the villains at every single turn
-The protagonist bests her antagonists at every single turn
-Protagonist likely the strongest in the universe since all those her senior or equal keep dying
But the biggest issue is that damn hyperspace jihad scene. Why don't they just get abunch of droids to kamikaze the fukk out of the first order? Why arent they immediately pulling up on the first order with Rey? This girl is Jordan in her prime, Im supposed to believe Kylo Ren or amy of those other hoes can hold her?
TLJ did wonders for creating storyholes, and I cant see episode 9 plugging them and being a solid movie

Retcon The Last Jedi and continue remaking the original trilogy, which is what the stans really wanted even though they shytted on The Force Awakens for doing just that
Movie will be garbage. Finn is trash, Rey is a super Mary Sue, Kylo lost all intimidation and cool factor when he took off the mask and was just a whiny kid, Snoke is dead, rebels aren't cool or interesting, OGs we care about are gone.

3rd movie make her even more OP and mary sue ish. Kylo dies and she becomes the last person in the universe with force powers which turns her power hungry.
Make the next trilogy's protagonists be all non jedi trying to find a way to take down a super powered rey. The fandom will rally behind them due to prebuilt hatred for rey on a meta and narrative level.
Its a nice thought but would never happen since the heads of SW are more concerned with symbolic feminism than making good movies. So Rey couldnt be anything other than a perfect mary sue who's the best at everything.

This. Either she’s Luke’s daughter, Palpatine’s granddaughter, or turn her heel. It’s something that would’ve fit into the narrative or been trying something new and fresh. The originals worked so well because George had a story he wanted to tell and stuck to it. Yeah the first works as a stand alone film like curse of the black pearl for another example, but it’s clear he had a plan for parts 5-6 that needed two whole films to tell, so he did just that. Maybe JJ hadn’t finished writing out where he wanted the story to go, but they needed to have him direct all 3 films. He started it, so let him see it through. With what they did, it’s clear that they didn’t have the slightest idea where they wanted to go with any of the story or any of the characters, and that’s the biggest mistake you can make.
