In the South, we can name more Boosie songs than Nas, Jay-Z, and Biggie combined.

Stop it, if you don't like someone that's fine.

But he's not a failed rapper, period.

Cut it out
Where did I say he was a failed rapper? I said he's a regional talent that is forgettable for the rest of the world and not on the level of Nas, Big or Jay. :manny: . Learn to read.

there's a good conversation about this phenomena with Toure, Bomani Jones, and Michael Smith recently.

Basically, there's two things that can be true:

1) There's still a hyperlocal aspect to rap at times. In other words, I wouldn't be surprised people in the NO know more Boosie songs than someone like Jay, Nas, BIG. This shouldn't be surprising.

2) Part of the appeal of hip-hop is being able to feel someone's music. Boosie's music had to have resonated more in the south. It just had to.

I can’t believe all these hip hop lists have been wrong for so long.

I never see Boosie in a top 10.

And meanwhile he’s top 3 all time with PAC and E-40.

Why doesn’t the south promote Boosie more?

We don’t even consider ya shyt rap :heh:

See this is is what happens when you play make belief for too long. You let your lil brother beat you in hoops he gon think he better.

For too long we have pretended the south is an equal partner in hip hop. They not! The same way peope cry ‘SEC bias’ but it’s not really ‘bias’ bc yes, the SEC IS superior. Same thing here. Yes, east coast rappers and music are (or used to be) superior. So we do not care how many Boosie songs you know. We not shootin at the same basket

Right. It’s like E-40 or better yet Mac Dre in the Bay. Jay’s a huge artist. Worldwide selling out shows, but I’m willing to bet Mac Dre or E-40 are played twice as much in the Bay. That music resonates with them 100x more.

Boosie does club performances in the south for 20 bucks a tick, Jay does the arenas for 300 a tick :mjlol:

People don't understand that if Boosie was bigger than Jay-z in the south, he'd move millions of records and sell out arena, or better yet stadium, tours across the south. Dudes must be slow to ever believe this. It's always people from some town of 400 people in the jungle that they never left, that say "the south do this and that", talking about 150 milion people or something
