The nucleus of Hip Hop. I argue that from 1986, when Rakim, BDK, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions Kool Moe D came out, that's when the paradigm shifted. R&B and Hip Hop started to mix a lot early in this era. It popped off in the 90's heavily.
