In living color vs Chappelle Show

Breh, it’s In Living Color by a country mile!

I watch some of the skits and I’m literally in tears. That moment when you’re old enough to remember SEEING these skits as a kid (my parents didn’t let me and my sis watch ILC) and then understanding them as an adult and crying tears of laughter.

While I seen most of the old ILC sketches and own the complete dvd, they still get a chuckle out of me for sure. Men on Whatever, Anything with Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey in the background skits, the parody songs (“I’ll be rich, you’ll be poor”)

Some straight classics. Chappelle show was hilarious as well. Couple skits still have me laughing but the cultural impact of ILC and the nostalgia make me choose it

In Living Color.

there is no Chappelle's Show without it. Take that away and a lot of the best parts of comedy from the last 30 years are gone.

Chappelle's show is equally iconic but ILC made so many stars it has to win in my book.

Hard question, I'm leaning towards ILC tho...

Some of those Chappelle's Show sketches didn't age that well tbh...we remember the CLASSICS but but for every classic, some of the lesser known shyt like Dave on the Actors Studio or Dave goes to the internet or Dave in slo motion or Dave gets a camera that can tell the future were funny at the time but kinda corny now. And this is coming from someone who thinks Dave is one of the best comedians of all time

Meanwhile ILC had a lot of slept on sketches.

WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF HEAVY HAD IT WENT MORE THAN 2 SEASONS.

Ah, but it begs the question of whether it's better to go out hot or to drag on like a dying horse. Towards the end, ILC didn't have a single Wayans on the show - not even Marlon or Shawn, IIRC. And this was particularly bad for the female character, b/c nobody was touching Kim Wayans. (T'Keyah Crystal Keymah was funny, but she wasn't touching Kim.)

Can't argue w/that. I think the difference b/t the two is that CP is iconic and ILC is legendary. Not only did it change sketch comedy forever, but it produced so many Hollywood stars.

Yep. More recent and use of the word nikka 20 times an episode=funnier

Clayton Bigsby was a hilarious sketch, but I think Keenan & Damon's Uncle Tom brothers was more clever. And they were funny enough to be repeat characters. Bigsby shock factor and funny would have worn off if it was more than a one time skit
