This is what I think happened. I think he recorded a crazy direct diss to Pac before he died that was probably dope as fukk. When Pac died they probably thought about throwing the song away but it was so dope they decided to keep it on the album. But they changed it around to be more about anybody or any enemy and not specific to Pac and updated the song with other stuff, like the Cease crippled me line.

The problem is that they didn't change it enough and even though it was subliminal and not direct like the original diss, it still clearly seemed like it was directed to Pac.

I could be just giving Big and Pac too much credit but I don't think they'd be stupid enough to dance on Pacs grave, legally and morally. But I guess we'll never know...

I've echoed what you've said in the first paragraph as well. There's at least 1 more version of the song we haven't heard which was confirmed by Cease. The version with Cappadonna is on YouTube with Big talking over the beat

As far as BIG not dissing Pac when he was alive, he was trying to get Busta Rhymes and Nas and probably any other established NY artist to team with him for that but they didn't want to. Dangerous MC's off Born Again was originally supposed to be Busta's track but he ended up not using it cuz he didn't want Pac disses on his album. Listen to that verse and it's obvious who it's for.

Also Pac was dead 3 months after Hit Em Up came out. Things moved a lot slower back in those days. Had he lived even another 6 months there would be dozens of Tupac disses out.

Nah. The I aint mad at you line should prove it was done after he died. Sure the song was on AEOM but the video/single didn't drop until after Pac died and the song wasn't nearly as big until then. Even Dame Dash admits that Jay dissed Pac after he died, it shouldn't be that hard to believe that Biggie did as well. Even if we take all of these arguments into consideration, he still went to LA and performed it. Thus, he dissed him while he was dead, what's the difference?

It wasn't cowardly. Pac himself wasn't going to do anything to Biggie. So him being dead or alive didn't change anything. Y'all act like Pac himself was gonna run down on Biggie. And do what? Lol. Scrawny ass nikka. The people that would've physically harmed Biggie for Pac were still alive and around as we saw later on.

"And the winner is not that thinner kid, with bandanas and tattoos" was a Biggie line off the original Dangerous Mcs

I'm a huge Biggie fan and always will be and I love this song, but I still do think it was kind of cowardly to record this after his death. People say the freestyle sealed his fate but he was probably going to get killed regardless. He should have stayed out of LA.
Seriously. Especially the way they approached the situation while he was alive. Everything Pac said about them sneak dissing and then playing on public sympathy was true. I was actually a much bigger BIG supporter when the two were alive because I fed into that media BS. Years later, I'm disgusted.

Brolic... Alcoholics
:what:

how is so.... it was only 1 side doing all da yapping & threating

This is the part about it that nikkas forget. nikkas that make the most noise and are seen the most are usually the easily nikkas to get got. Maybe BIG had something to do with his dying, maybe he didn't. Who really knows? But lets say BIG and Puff had Pac smoked... I can't trip becuz they weren't the ones that started it.

If you gone be in them streets, expect some street shyt to go down.
