Maniacs..put my name in raps... ...what part of the game is that
"
Like they hustle backwards"
Like the other poster said, Big messed up going to Cali and trying to be on his Suge shyt in Suge's town.
Should have stayed on that smooth gangster shyt and left the tough talk behind the scenes and in subliminals. This song is amazing IMO. a 10/10. (Insert obligatory People who would want to take away from the song because of someone passing don't understand art BS
) But nah, why would Big even have to speak on anything to the public.
Who are we as the masses to want to know what's going on with beef between two grown men?
Man, the media and the distributors really the ones who ate off this which I'll get into in a minute but as far as the track. Between this and Who Shot Ya, Big and Puff were doing what they had to so that it was known without it having to be known?
Hold up hear me out.
The work that was being put in behind the scenes was too real for people to just be yapping which is what I feel Pac's biggest mistake was.
Had he stayed on his destined path, who knows what may have happened...
After catching that case, he took on this Machiavellian scorched earth ideal and went out with a blaze of glory.
But what could he do, son was rotting in jail with no one to pay his bail. That was $1million back then I think, and Suge paid that for him in exchange for what, 6 albums, IDK, he was recording like crazy lol.
. (compare to Bobby Shmurda asking for $2 mil today. You don't think Martin Skhreli was trying to Suge Knight him?)
So anyway, you have Pac who got shot, caught a charge, signed to Deathrow and the music he is putting out is amazing.
Double album fresh out of jail.
California Love is the hottest song out.
Dudes are selling records. Now record sales and tours and shows become more and more competitive and the media is out here fanning the flames like crazy trying to sell some prints.
And what kind of record label is gonna be able to maintain those sales?
The Bad Boy school of thought or the Deathrow school of thought?
I look at the rap business and don't get what some of you posters are criticizing.
These dudes job are to put out records. That's it. All that other stuff was their personal business and dudes out here taking sides like cheerleaders.
. Now wait, I'm not saying don't stan for either one but do you even understand how crime works?
The way some of y'all expect people to move is amazing.
Puff and them always said bad boys move in silence and I'm sure that's how he is still getting money today!
I know rap is entertainment, but it revolves around money and power right, so I look at it two ways. If you're bossing up, you're either on your Diddy
or on your Suge Knight
, two very different business methods. If you're blessed to coach a great, similar to a Big or a Pac, you can go with either school of learning and you're gonna win cause you have a great, but when you look at them in present day (20 years later), you should understand that you have to move like Puff if you wanna survive in the business.
Puff always handled his behind closed doors, which is where most business really gets done.
I can't say too much because, like most things being said, it's all hearsay and gangsta stories that I've heard from other forums.
But, putting the pieces together, it's just another American crime story. 30 years from now when the Combs family are a 2nd or 3rd generation liquor distribution brand like the Kennedys, that's when we can see if Diddy is really on his Frank Underwood.
But until then, he is still the last one laughing.
Long Kiss...
Edit: Didn't realize how much I wrote LMAOOOO. I need to get my work started.
