Before Micheal killed his fathers enemies the other families and even his own crew didnt fully respect him. His primary enforcer was calling him by his first name but after he had everyone wacked, they called him don.
Which is crazy because Micheal was a decorated MARINE war hero.

Fighting in the Pacific was brutal and widely known as being brutal and some of the fiercest fighting for American troops and yet sonny and his own crew/family didn't take him serious....shyt is crazy to think about

Because mike wasn't really bout that life until sonny died and it was forced upon him.

:pachaha:

Even you don't take Mike serious.

Breh fought the damn Japs In The Pacific...he was about that life brehs were just underestimating him. He wasn't the Mike before he joined.

He'll even at the end I. The flashback where he announced he enlisted.

Mike is calm and collected smoking a cigarette knowing he about to head of to war...MIKE was always about that life.

:wtf:

Sonny was boss...
Word there was no scenario where michael hurts sonny, and infact, he never comes to power if sonny had not been killed.

i’m not just talking about lineage, i mean more how michael didnt really want to be in the business...his dad and sonny were, and fredo was just around....but michael didnt get involved until the SECOND attempt on vito’s life in the hospital. Even then, clemenza, sonny, etc; laughed at the IDEA of michael killing Sollozo and McCluskey. He earned their respect with that, and going to Scicily following the killings. He earned VITO’s respect however by his commitment to the family and Vito himself when he was in the hospital. He knew Michael would put family over all then.

I legit don’t think michael enters the life had Vito not been shot, and michael showed his worth by protecting Vito and by extension the family.

.

Sonny clowned him openly. When he brought up possibly hitting the cop, Sonny said "What you think it's like in the movies, you hit him from 20 yards away? No, get right up on him and blow his brains out, and get blood all over your Ivy League suit"

Mobsters laughed at military soldiers for being puppets of the big shots, and didn't respect that they had faced combat

The flashback at the end of 2 (what a scene :wow: ) outlined this clearly

this might be the worst thing i've read in years :heh:

Not really. but DeNiro is acting like brando acting as Vito, but younger. And he also didn't speak italian but learned it enough to speak his lines for this movie.

Personally, i think the story of showing how Vito became Vito is really compelling, and the scene building up to the death of Don Fanucci is great. And he's a great character himself. I love the old new york scenes
There is nothing in the flashbacks as interesting as Michael's storyline. It interrupts all flow and urgency

I strongly disagree :hubie:. Vito losing his job, refusing the offer of food, and presenting his wife a single pear with pride has more depth than the almost anything in the current time period :manny:

Cuh came off the boat with nothing. No parents. No brother. Nothing.

And made himself into something.

3 is better than 2. :yeshrug:

It's a more complete story, and arc for Michael and the family. Part II loses a lot of points for me because Clemenza wasn't there, and yet they still continued the story arc with Frank Pentangeli. Pentangeli, a character never seen before, is supposed to be this loyalists, but was nowhere to be found in the first. It would have meant more if it were Clemenza, but they couldn't get him back. Plus I don't like the Vito flashbacks, and feel it interrupts the more interesting story.

Stop.

Godfather three maybe one of the worst movies ever made.
Especially if you actually own the true cut of rhe godfather in the epic.
