Ideally you’re going to want to play the OG, then Crisis Core and then Remake because the Remake series is more of a sequel not a remake. Remake was my first FF game and I didn’t really understand what was going on until I played the original and Crisis Core. Then I went back and replayed Remake last month and everything started to come together.
