At the least they need to get rid of smart and bring in a locker room leader. If they want to do that then fine. I'm not convinced the same thing wouldnt be happening if Ime was here. They've played a lot of games the last few seasons are fatigued and were devastated after the finals last year. Maybe they win a few more games but nothing substantially changes.

Brown is going to leave and its probably best to get something for him while the celtics still can. But if they want to run it back one more year with Smart gone then fine.

Brown will want the supermax contract. He's not gonna go anywhere unless the Cs get a trade offer they can't refuse.

Smart is a good player but is too involved in the offense in close games. That's up to the HC. They need a HC who is tactically good and can command respect. Mazz ain't both that's why we're getting the shyt show we're seeing.

I’m not either. Probably don’t get swept like this but Miami came as close to beating them as you possibly could last year with Ime

I'm sure Curry would love to A) get a rich man's Wiggins and B) get Poole's contract off the books lmao

Funny thing is I heard the same talk about The Clippers needing a pg after the bubble. All of a sudden wings need a pg when they can’t make shots. Lol Them nigggax just need to play better point blank

I think We should explore CP3 as the floor general. Manage his minutes and mix it up with Derrick White.
We don’t need a superstar PG, just a floor general. Smart has value around the league, especially considering he has 3 more years on his deal after this season

If we could swing a Smart for Tyus Jones & Xavier Tillman or Smart & salary filler for Mike Conley & Naz Reid this team would be a whole lot better

Grizzlies will need Tyus Jones more than ever now that JA will be suspended for at least half of the season. Marcus Smart will make their team worse. Mike Conley is a more realistic trade.

I think playing Tatum at the 4 and JB at the 3 to give Smart, White and, Brogdon minutes, has not worked. Smart is too dumb too run an offense but he's the only player who competes. White is a streaky shooter, not a real pg either, and he's the softest player I have ever seen. Brogdon is the best shooter of all, but he's not a real pg either. I would trade 2 of those 3 (Smart and White). Get a pass first pg and a versatile 4. Move Tatum back to SF and Brown back to SG. Brogdon can be the backup combo guard.

I see a lot of love for White on here. Sorry fellas, but that dude is 100% bytch made. Typical regular season performer who crumbles in the playoffs.

I think people really underestimate how much Marcus Smart ruins the offense for this team. I hate to pile on, but whatever

- 2022 playoffs, 2nd round against the Bucks, Game 5. Celtics up by like 14 with 5 min to go. They end up losing the game because of dumb plays after dumb plays from Smart
- 2022 playoffs, EFC against the Heat Game 7. Celtics up by 9 with 2 min to go. They almost lost the series because of dumb plays after dumb plays from Smart

The best Celtics team as far 4th quarter execution I've seen was the 2018 playoff run when Marcus Smart was bench player hustle guy, and the offense was handled by Rozier. It's not a coincidence

I was thinking the same thing when I was thinking about what this team needs moving forward.

Def need a floor general kind of PG that can shoot some. Those guys you named come to mind. Just going off of the last 2 years, it's evident that they need a guy that can calm them down when things get tight and get them organized to run good offense. When the pressure rises seems like they just shoot 3s and get frantic.

Fam I was the original Smart hater on this site, there is no critique that can be made about him made that I haven’t said ad nauseam :skip:

Another thing with the 2018 team was that there was no star. Everything was done by committee, we relied on ball movement and generating scoring opportunities within the flow of the offense. Tatum & Brown didn’t have the cache to pound the air out of the ball isoing while everyone else stood and watched.

I blame Brad Stevens for Smart’s BS because he did nothing but coddle him and give him free rein to go rogue regardless of how it hurts the team. That 1st half of G1 might have been the best he’s ever looked because it’s exactly what people wanted from him. Put all his effort into defending, playmaking and doing the little things making hustling plays, only shoot when you absolutely have to

It might be time to bring back Doc. Restore this franchise to its rightful place. We'll go from 1,2,3, Cancun! to 1,2,3 Ubuntu! :skip:

4 coaches in 4 years, nikka? I can divide

Might be the 23-24 Season Thread title. It's only right after the last two years. :scusthov:
