Iron Man 2 didn't pretend to be an Iron Man film. Iron Man 2 > 3 on that alone. Don't promote a film with the Stark in suit and give me a film where he's barely in it. Tony Stark 3 :camby:.
but but but everyone loves rdj he is tony stark and tony stark sells the movie :beli:

The issue i had when i watched it when it first came out, it didn't feel like a complete movie. With all the hype about the Avengers movie coming out, it felt like more of a prequel then a stand alone film. I was left feeling unsatisfied, but now I appreciate it more. Its one of my favorite of the marvel flicks. I think it maybe its the fact that the story was so simple and concise, it didnt try to blow you away. Also it didn't rely on a bunch of CGI effects like the other ones. I feel that's the same reason Winter Soldier is gonna be one of their best films. It'll focus more on the villain and story, then trying to wow everyone with special effects like Thor and the recent Iron man Movies.

the first half was better than the second half...funny enough the parts where he wasnt captain america :wtf:

I felt the exact same way.

I haven't seen the movie since I saw it in the theater so who knows if I'd come around after a second viewing but I really remember digging the first half and growing bored once he put on the suit. That's when it stopped being interesting and turned into your typical stock action movie.

The movie should have ended with Cap being presumed dead. That would have made for the most complete, most emotionally satisfying ending. The heroic sacrifice.

The whole scene with him waking up in the present should have been saved for the beginning of The Avengers. It would have really added a lot to the narrative and made for a more riveting intro.

I agree with everyone saying the first half of the movie was a lot better than the second half. The build-up to him becoming Captain America was perfect, you really felt like he not only deserved to become a super hero but he was also worthy of it. Then he became Captain America and the movie turned into a lengthy, sloppily put together action montage.

what was missing was captain America actually fighting Nazis, yea hydra was supposed to be the uber Nazis but at the end of the day, they just weren't evil enough, they were more like stormtroopers from star wars

Watched this again last night and it was just as good as the first time seeing it. It's true, the quality does dip a bit in the second half but it's still a great movie over all.

Winter Soldier is a textbook example on how to make a classic sequel: take all the weak stuff of the first (Cap's fighting/action, some dialogue etc.) and make it better.

CA 1 & 2 is in the running for the best pair of comic book movies ever made.
