"I'm spiritual but not religious." Help me out y'all. What does this mean?

I did wonder if I was like that then i realized Im not even spiritual.

My belief would be closest to the simulation theory.

From what I've gathered, when a person refers to themselves as "spiritual," it usually means that they appropriate concepts from one or more religions while rejecting communal and/or organized aspects that come with said religions(s). It's somewhat disingenuous, in my opinion, because if they explain their god concept to you, it can almost always be traced back to the religion that they probably don't think too highly of.

Salvation technically is not by works but by faith but there are rules and regulation to follow if you want to see the favor of God in your life.

From Christian POV, refusing to accept Jesus as the son of God who died for the sins of the world is a straight hell-bound ticket. No matter how much good you do, unless you confess that...........you are toast.

Sounds a lot like religion, just with a comfy and reassuring new name much like real estate agents making up new names for neighborhoods that are being gentrified.

Looking into it more, I can see that. I just finished this book "The Way of the Superior Man". I'd say it's a lifestyle of constantly trying to better oneself, to obtain wholeness and unity. Balancing mind body and "soul". I will say soul as in a culmination of one's consciousness and overall life. Though it's not something like a religion where it's an official codified group, it's a practice of beingness.

Spirituality, at its core, is living one's self-directed and innate purpose. Being a human in fullness of what that is, in the highest definition or possibility of such, realistically and practically, both as an individual and in service to the whole.
