NY brehs, if u asked your Hisoanic friends to stop saying nikka, what would happen :ohhh:
I don’t have any hispanic friends, but this Puerto Rican dude was liberally saying “nikka” almost every time he spoke. I calmly, but pointedly told him to stop saying that word if he doesn’t want a problem.

He stopped.

By who? That is a White man. No where is he called the N-word. Where is his Black Phenotype? Also, what Black blood? If any, it's less than 15 percent - understand that.

I am just trying to understand why so many of yall are OK with a White man saying the N-word - and being anti-Black. Cause, yall grew up around them? And it's people who live in NY (tri-state) who are OK with this mess.

I'm going to let you know - that shyt don't fly in many places outside of NYC -- and THAT should tell you something.

Hell, I grew up in a predominately Black neighborhood but we had two Arab families on my street, but, guess what - as close as we thought we were at one time. Let them come out they mouth saying the N-word with the "a" or "er" - we fighting.

I’m also from Detroit and grew up around plenty of Arabs while living in Hamtramck for a minute. If you’ve NEVER heard an Arab use the term “nikka” while trying to be Black, you didn’t spend that much time around them then.
:mjpls:

From the Somalians, the Yemenis, the Bengalis, to the Chaldeans; they all used to try and copy our swag while saying that term on occasion. Not saying it’s right or okay, but it is what it is. I have more of an issue with them constantly exploiting us in our own communities.

My point was that non NYers don't get to regulate who can say what based on phenotype, an argument made on every page of this thread.

This is what it comes down to. Black folks who grew up around other black folks thinking that it makes them more authentic and therefore having more black cultural authority need to understand that black cultural authority resides wherever black people find themselves, in a diverse area like NYC or not. If black NY’ers recognize Fat Joe as part of the culture or as one of their own, folks need to make peace with it and move on because no one black group has more cultural authority over the other to tell this or that group that they’re wrong.

I think the problem here is implying that Hip Hop is the one and only manifestation of black culture. :mjpls:There are cities where Hip Hop is not even on the forefront of black culture... like DC. :ufdup:DC is a Go Go city musicially and culturally. DC does their own thing. And there are cities where non-black Latinos have no clout in the hood... like Baltimore. Non-black Spanish dudes be getting whooped on in Baltimore for no reason. It ain’t black and brown unity everywhere. Look at L.A. :childplease:Fat Joe dropping n-bombs like he’s black is what people have beefed with him about for 20+ years. And there are plenty places on the map that don’t tolerate that shyt if he was a regular dude on the street.

@IllmaticDelta You said there were no Puerto Rican’s in hip hop then posted an article that said there were Puerto Rican’s there rapping and breakdancing. That means they were there dummy. Even if there were more blacks. Because we’re not arguing that genius. Let me help you out. An example of not being involved is Hawaiian rappers or Chinese rappers or Saudi Arabian rappers. Odds are there were none in the early days of hip hop. THATS AN EXAMPLE OF NONE GENIUS. But Ricans? There were far too many there to say they weren’t involved.

Damn yall nikkas mustve flunked out of high school.

X = 3 but sometimes it’s 7 too ass nikka.

Either something is or it isn’t. Damn y’all dumb.

You dumbass, did you take notice of the dates? HipHop has been around since about 71, Ricans came in more towards 1977-81, that mean Ricans were not there at the start. Step up your reading comprehension:russ:

according to caz, ricans came in more around 78-79

puerto ricans were in the same hoods but they weren't in/around hiphop until the later 1970s because the 2 populations of the specific age group were rivals, enemies and simply didn't associate with one another. here is abby and trac2 talking about the negative energy that existed between blacks and latins (ricans) and that the two groups used to rumble against each other. It wasn't until they had a meeting with zulu nation that, that enegry died off and the two groups came together (this is late 1970s)

Nope, it was some cat in a bar who had a couple black friends with him. He was uttering that word like he got paid for each mention. I tapped him on the shoulder, introduced myself, and told him that his use of the word was bothersome. He looked around as if l was joking, shocked someone would approach him like that. His friends were silent, because even they knew he shouldn’t have been saying it. I looked at him the way Tony looked at that guy wearing a hat in the restaurant. He knew I was serious.

Didn’t hear him say it a single time after that.
