You might want to get in the catering business STAT when you get here.
It's award season and there's gonna be a lot of functions going on.
Also, damn near every server in those gigs are actors/entertainers so you can network like crazy.
Save up or get a loan so you can get a decent 4 door car. Eat off Uber/Lyft.
Get on Craigslist. There are PA jobs out there all the time that pay cash at the end of the day.
If you're funny, get on that Vine/Youtube wave. All you need is a phone, computer and terrible editing skills.

Yeah I mean with all the forums and online shyt. OP should already have another Stripper who he or she has befriended to show them the ropes of that city before and when they get there.
Go on some male(or female whichever you are) entertainer forums and start chopping it up with some people who already work in that business in LA.

But for real I had a buddy who went with a rented car full of his stuff, some stolen Extended Stay coupons, and a few hundred bucks. He did well for himself.
Almost immediately got a job at a Cheesecake Factory. I guess there's one that is well known for higher end guests. Served Kobe, Game, and Monique a few times. But tips were great. Lucked out with some solid roommates. Eventually got involved with music video production.
I had to hang around gangbanger baby mamas when I first moved here.
I'm at 6 figures and it still ain't enough to buy impressive real estate in the county.
