In fact I do watch HGTV. Call me a fakkit if you will, but tips from that show have my home looking like a million bucks. I get lots of tips off that shyt.

DIY television is good. Lotta useful shows.

Tons of movie channels

Travel Channel has single handedly helped my plan vacations for the last 10 years

TNT - NBA shows alone as some of the best quality TV out.

AMC -great fukking TV right chea.

HBO - no need to expound further on this one

ESPN - Call me crazy but I dont think I could function without this channel availible to me. alot of crap one there for sure, but its essential for alot of the premier sporting events

Comedy Central

NFL Sunday Ticket -:rudy: if you have to ask me why this is important your a fakkit.

Live 3D TV

Food Central has alot of classic shows. Turned my wifey from a shytty cook to an amazing chef. Rachel Ray be hooking the wifey up with some bomb as culinary concoctions...

Nick JR and Disney for the kids

FOX news, MSNBC, CNN are good namely for the quality of their respective broadcasts. While the actual news being delivered on all three is crap, its nice watching the lastest details on the most recent mass shooting in high quality HD goodness. Seeing dead bodies in SD or the shytty streams online just doesn't deliver the same wow factor, call me crazy.

So yeah, while Cable isn't perfect by a long shot, or entirely necessary for that matter there are still some great channels on cable TV. I pay about $120 a month, which i dont find to bad. Especially for the ease of use and convenience it allows when compared to using internet based media as your sole source for media.

C/S

I also watch alot of HGTV and DIY...i watch alot of TLC, Nat Geo, Discovery and Science channels....bottom line is there are still alot of channels and shows with ZERO online presence. Yall nikkas don't watch alot of tv or don't have a big enough family where all the streaming would bring your internet to a crawl. I have all HDTV's in my house so i refuse to watch anything but HD content(unless i have absolutely no choice) and the bandwidth it would take for streaming good high def content in multiple rooms with internet usage at the same damn time es no bueno.cutting cable/satellite is still far off for some of us. I think the future for most ppl will be streaming options used in conjunction with cable/satellite to bring your bill down.

At the end of the day cutting out cable/satellite completely is still a gamble when most of the good content(ie sports) is from illegal sources than can be taken down at a moments notice. For all these reasons its not a feasible option for most ppl....yet.

I just got 120 bucks in credit and HBO for ten bucks a month, and it's not just for 6 months. Been with Comcast since before it was Comcast, and my loyalty paid off :win:

Sports is covered for the most part even after you cut the cable.

I think NBC and Comcast have a deal in place where NOW people get Comcast Sportsnet through local cable. This means that you can view your local games for FREE with just an antennae. It wasn't like this when I first moved into my house, but now it is. I live in the Chicagoland area, and I am basically getting the main channels I need for live sports on local cable. With WGN (free), WCIU (free) and now Comcast Sportsnet, I have access to all the White Sox games, and Bulls games when they start the NBA season. Hell I can throw on the Cubs if I want to laugh.

I also have CBS, Fox, NBC, ABC... so I get the national broadcasts for the NFL shyt and the NBA weekend games. I don't get the Thursday games or the MNF games but I'm not a huge NFL stan and if it's a game I really want to see I can just stream it or go over a friend's house.

Now in addition to the FREE shyt that I'm getting through local cable, I also have Comcast internet which enables me access to the 360 ESPN app. Which has a ton of content on there. The 360 will also be getting a League Pass app this upcoming season and it's a wrap. I will gladly pay for that. I'll be able to access majority of all the NBA games on 2 devices and my PC.

I'm covered for shows and movies because I have Netflix (free) and HBOGo (free), Amazon Instant Video with Prime account, and for piff that's not on there I can just download from my connect.

Saving money feels so good :ahh:

Especially when the quality of all of the content is in HD.

I'm paying 45 bucks for just internet and eating this well.

:heh:

BK
Netflix ($8), Hulu plus ($8), Verizon internet connection ($50), download blogs (free), streaming sports sites (free) and a $12 RCA antenna to get local over-the-air channels like NBC,CBS,FOX, etc in HD.

$66 a month and I get everything :manny:

In The Thunder and Rain
Cut the cable a while ago. Purchased some good rabbit ears and just left it at that. At first I was holding tight to HD sports, but Charter was cracking me across the face for $120 (Cable/Internet combined) just to do that. At the end of the day HD sports wasn't enough to justify the price.

If you are heavy into your local team you can toss a decent pair of rabbit ears on your tv and watch HD games.:salute: If you are just trying to spazz and watch ALL the games then you're going to have to endure some streams or pay somebody for a service.

Bottom line is that the cable companies are murdering us with these prices. In my opinion the quality of content on Netflix is just fine. People shytting on Netflix are looking for the top billed (advertised) content to be there. If aint there they assume Netflix is :trash:. Honestly, the Netflix thread here helped to completely change my opinion of the service.

Cut that cable off, do some research, and :eat:

Traditional cable won't be replaced until they can replicate "channel surfing" online. Some of the best shows I've ever watched came from flipping the remote; I usually don't take any many chances when streaming seasons.

I have been on both sides of the fence, but now I pay for cable.

This season, just off the quality and convenience alone, I think it's been totally worth it.

I even made a thread about the god-like power I feel with a dozen plus sports channels. Plus the lady gets all her shows in HD, the DVR catches a lot of good TV, I enjoy it.

I still don't have HBO though :russ:
