its not about liking. Its about what is lyrical. I also dont like Chino XL but I cant deny his lyrical ability. I dont like Ras Kass' Soul On Ice but I recognize the lyricism in it.
So again, why dont you show me the amazing lyrical showcase that is illmatic?
What am I gonna show you? You've heard the album already. You've already made up your mind. It's not rocket science. There's no hidden meaning if you play it backwards.

See, perhaps you could show me what I missed like I was able to show you that you missed the "Down for whatever/Nuthin Nyce" lyric in Jay's shyt... At this point it sure looks like youre dodging and afraid to just admit what we both know to be true. But I have been mistaken before...
so why dont you go ahead and show me this example of elite lyricism in illmatic that makes it the most lyrical album ever... waiting...

But that's the whole point. I think you understand 95% of the lyrics. To me he's consistently killing it throughout the whole album. But it doesn't impress you. Its a difference of opinion. There's no hidden meaning throughout the album that you're missing. What more can I say?

So if you can separate the lyrical aspect from the music and if to you illmatic is not a lyrical album then do you conclude that illmatic is NOT a lyrical album but a great album anyway ?
That begs the question, what is the most lyrical album ever? I think Illmatic is up there.

Someone could find it great. Personally I dont like it at all. But I think IWW is *Thrift Shop hook* fukkin awesome... I find illmatic extremely difficult to listen to from the lyrics to the beats to the hooks, some people feel that way about Pac & Lupe

it's somewhere in between "regular ass album lyrically" and "the most lyrical album ever". overall it's a top tier hip-hop album
