illinois, indiana, michigan wisconsin, pennsyvania and ohio are not landlocked doggy.
Don't count bodies of water when classifying landlocked states breh's.
I'd say ride it out for as long as you can because she may stay down there more than two years, since you were saying she was making less than you for a while even with her degrees, so I know she's not going to be trying to give that money up.
You may be able to rent out the house you're in now if you decide to move down there.
Lakes don't count
other than buying a house recently, why won't you move to texas? or does she want to test it out to see if she likes it before the the whole family commits to the move? seems like a no brainer to move to a place with a lower cost of living where she's making more and the weather is better. i know the sentiment of "home" but having lived in chicago and spent time in texas....texas >>> chicago (well dallas and houston)to be honest, I dont know how it's gonna work. the amount of money she will make for the promotion is almost triple my salary, so it was a no brainer. plus she is eligible for bonuses of up to 25% of her salary. we will see how it goes. her lease is only for 6 months. if we can't handle it, I will move down there or she will come back and find another gig as I still make enough money on my own to support the household. this would be simple if not for kids who will be staying up here for the forseeable future cuz of school. maybe we go down there for the entire summer. it hasn't been decided. luckily flights on southwest between here and dallas can be found for as low as $45 each way.
oh yeah on top of that, we JUST bought this house we have now a year ago.
so that is another thing that makes it hard to just simply move.
Sound like the problem I had in Atlanta. It's all good if you got a great job or business but getting to that point is a hurdle for even cacs and you already know how it is for us in a system of white supremacy300k plus a little bit extra would have got you the mini mansion I came of age in.
Chicago is going to shyt real estate price wise.
Plus, nobody really has any liquid substantial capital but pritzkers and a few others.
Real talk, if I don't stay on my old block.
It is nowhere in Chicago appealing for me to be at any way.
When I lived in other parts of Chicago it was huff as fukk.
If it ain't my old actual block and a house there.
I am good on moving back, just because.
If I moved back.
it would be for my daughter and her to get the knowledge.
Supplied from the urban experience in high school.
past that, Chicago has no value to me to move back.
there is no money in real estate there either.
Best thing about Chicago is you can get around in certain areas and get resources if you fukked up.
Yet, the problem is if you black you are going to be fukked up.

I could never live in NY. Paying an arm and a leg for a glorified master bedroom? These nikkas watch movies and tv shows about NYC and LA and dream about going there when in real life, they'd be packed like sardines in a 5 bedroom roomshare house/apartment or living in a 400 sq. foot junior 1 bedroom paying $1,650 a month for it but, feeling like they winning because they can get Vietnamese food at 3am
I would rather live in cities like Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta and maybe Washington D.C. (I'm in D.C. now but, I'd only stay long term if I made more money) over New York or LA. If you search real estate listings and you can only get a crackhouse for $300,000 then you need to ask yourself if living in the big city is really worth it.
I know a bunch of classmates and cousins that gtfo of chicago/illinois.
Texas is the biggest destination followed by ATL and florida.
Technically I left only bc my mom dragged me down here in high school and I been here ever since
texas doesn't have state income tax, so that right there increases one's salary by 3.5% even if u don't get a raise. but personally, I could probably do atlanta. been there plenty of times and I like it out there. I'm not really interested in texas. hell, I'd prefer chicago over both tho.

ATL is cool, although I think people overrate the hell out of it, But I could definitely see myself out there or Maryland.
I've never been to Texas, But I hear it's nothing to get a McMansion for like 200k esp. in Dallas
Chicago is better as far as amenities and is just a better city objectively, But Most of the people who did move out seem to doing much better than when they were in chicago.
Blacks go to the states u just mentioned, a lot of Hispanic I know went to Indiana and whites went west.I know a bunch of classmates and cousins that gtfo of chicago/illinois.
