But what exactly makes you think the Lakers would’ve had the money to sign Kawhi AND some of the contracts some of these role players got? It couldn’t happen either way.

Meanwhile, there are still solid role players on the market literally waiting for Kawhi and on top of that a lot of the money has dried up which will help the Lakers in getting bargains.

The reason for the delay is today is Canada day and Kawhi wants to be respectful to the Raptors organization. Lakers get their official meeting with Kawhi today after having corresponding for a full year with him. After he signs we’ll fill things out quickly.

:pachaha:You confident as fukk breh. U got some inside or something? I don't see how the Lakers a front runners. So he's taking 50 mil less to go be the 3rd fiddle? Yea he prob gonna get his shots but that shyt ain't gon be about him. This shyt gonna be about Lebron James. Same reason why Kyrie who is actually a much better fit for the Lakers than Kawhi didn't even take a meeting...cause he knows his star isn't gonna shine as big on a team with Bron

For a guy who wants max exposure and glory id say the perfect spot is where he's at

If he wasn't leaving Toronto, why not just re-sign and end this? What happened to all the people who said he doesn't like a circus? Why make a production out of this free agency then? He could just go back to his regular life and sign with the Raptors now then.

Or he knows he's leaving and wants to make Toronto and the world think he agonized over his decision, and then sign with the Lakers :sas2:

Raps dont have cap space so it doesnt matter how long he drags it out with them. Its Kawhi or bust for them.

Kawhi being third fiddle is the biggest load of shyt ever. Coming in off a championship as the younger player he’s signing if he is the lead guy which is what I think is going to happen. Kyrie wasn’t a good fit for LA, why leave all the defensive responsibility to AD? Not to mention, Kyrie is a mercurial character whose already clashed with LeBron before. Y’all would’ve been in here giggling like schoolgirls the moment that flat earth nikka start something.

Meanwhile, New Balance is plugged in with the Lakers via AEG (part Laker owners) so there’s already incentive to get Kawhi to the Lakers and used their global brand for maximum exposure. Plus if we’re being honest what gets more exposure and makes a bigger splash, a nice story in Toronto/clippers or joining the top brand in sports and forming one of the great trios in sports history? I think you know the answer to that question. If Kawhi wants to cash in and strike while the iron is hot then the Lakers are the only sensible move.

Remember, raptors have had one full year to prove to Kawhi that they the one. He’d be signed by now if he didn’t have one foot out the door already. Hell maybe I’m all the way wrong, but all logic points to the Lakers no matter how much y’all don’t want it to. If he goes back to Toronto then they won his heart and the Lakers couldn’t. I’ll tip my cap to them. :ehh:
