I'd say half the guys at my gym can't bench 225. More likely more than half can't.

According to Wiki:

Large arm-span is also mechanically disadvantageous on the bench press, as it forces the lifter through a wider range of motion.

My arm span is longer than my height by 2 inches which isn't normal as your arm span is typically how tall you are, may be a reason why I struggle with my bench.

Its true somewhat but that shouldn't matter if your motivated to get stronger. Its jus you and those weights fam... my wingspan is 6'3 and I can bench 225 for 10... one day I will get to 315

Consistency is important..

That's a whole lotta volume.

I do

135 x 10
225 x 10
300 x 10

And call it a day before moving on to flyes. I guess I'm just old school with the 3 sets of 10 thing

Did 405 for 1 rep about two months ago just to see if I could :yeshrug:
The most I can do at 225 is 5 reps:sadcam: how can I step my game up breh

How old and how long have you been working out breh? I bet it's not as bad you think. I've been working out since I was 14 and I'm 34 now so I more or less have longevity numbers. I wasn't able to bench 225 10 times until I was about 22/23.

My chest workout is pretty basic and is pretty much limited to chest flyes and the bench press. I do preexhaust my pecs by doing pec flyes first before benching. That way I can kinda guarantee that my pecs wiould get exhausted before my triceps do. Doing a lot of isolated tricep exercises will also transfer into getting "better" bench press results as well.

3 x 10 pex flyes
3 x 10 flat bench
3 x 10 tricep pulldown

I hate to break it to you but people look down on you. If you don't have at least two 45's on each side of the bar you're not taken seriously at the gym. And if you can't at least lift as much as you weigh you're really looked down on.

who gives a fuk?

you should be going to the gym for YOU not anybody else

i bet youre one of those clowns that grunt like a cave man and look at yourself in the mirror :russ:

I used to bench 205 when i was 16 and weighed like 145...i was always a small dude growing up but i lifted weights and used to break dance all the time so my strength was through the roof. Im sure i can still hit 200 atm but i dont do max lifts anymore. its pointless unless u wanna see how much strength u gained. I only care about how i feel and look. :manny:

I do drop sets on the bench word to Mike Rashid.
Start off 135 around 20 reps to loosen up
315 to failure which is normally 3 to 5 reps
275 to failure which 10 reps
225 to failure which is 15 reps, 17 on a good day
185 to failure
135 to failure

I'm pretty much beat after that but there's still incline and cable work so :yeshrug:
