This world (as far as Abrahamic regions are concerned) are to be bettered by all parties. You wasted your life on this earth if you are not actively trying to better your circumstance or those around you.

That being said atheists absolutely should have extra gas in the tank with regards to helping society. Without any hopes or belief in an afterlife this world is essentially it for most of them. Anything less than complete dedication to leaving a meaningful legacy is essentially underachieving.

Do you think all atheists do is sit up and talk about religion all day? Religion isn't even on my radar unless someone directly engages me in a discussion about it, which is rarely.

This narrative that atheists are selfish and awful is played and makes no sense when we see millions of selfish, toxic and abusive Christians using 'the word' to justify their shytty behaviors day in and day out, as they have done for centuries. I'm not even sure what the point of this thread was other than to get some kind of prayer circlejerk going where you and those who believe as you do get to cast stones at those who don't.

I'm sorry that atheists make you uncomfortable or mad or sad or fearful but that's not our problem. Most of us are just living are lives, often trying to make things better here, NOW because this is the end of the road.

I don't necessarily believe in a "god," but I think logic dictates we didn't just come from dust. Our origin is the most perplexing mystery of our lives. I am an agnostic who believes in intelligent design.
