If you think about it a bit, why is Nastradamas considered a "wack album"?

Because that's not what happens at all. You're just inventing this calm, reasonable sentiment and then an outlandish, extreme reaction. It's not as if people are always on some shyt like "hey buddies, guess what guys, I know it wasn't so well-received but personally I enjoy songs off of this album!" And then out of nowhere naysayers swoop in to say "it's illegal for you to enjoy this album!" It's usually some hilariously stupid shyt like "yo, I know cats hated on it, but really it's a 4.5 mic album and a top 3 release that year and now that I think about it Nas never released an album under 4 mics and has 5 classics damn that nikka is the GOAT. Oh, and his double time flow on Big Things was right on par with Twista."

Reasonable posts about any rapper are what they are. It's the extremes that set true Nas stans apart. "yo dog, Nas fukking killed that joint with Jermaine Dupri, that's a top 10 verse for any other rapper." :manny:

yeah my example was extreme, but realistically most of the folks who are in this thread saying they like it aren't saying its a 5 mic classic or that it was groundbreaking, they mostly just agreeing that it was his worst album and did have missteps but they still enjoyed it. its like people cant accept that other people enjoyed anything about the album.

:what:

Who said that? when?
You're mad over something that nobody said so that you can go with the whole "Nas stans are the worst" shyt.

by the way, all fans like their favorite rapper/group music more than the casual fans. Thats what make them FANS. Thats what fans do. Some dude in another thread think Krs-1 has been dropping nothing but 4.5-5/5 albums in the last 10 years. Shyt even lil B has crazy fans.

That was an exaggeration. But I've seen people say similar things on sohh and The Coli. I saw someone see the Life If Good album cover and call the album a definite classic before it came out. Nas stan scientology isn't something I have to invent.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA # inventing Nas standom. ParaNasoia.

Some dude. Exactly. Nas stans be having prayer circle in threads, recalling the greatness of his 5th classic album and shyt. Will start out on some faux objective shyt, but then shift and say "you know, one could make the argument Nas has 7 classics."

shyt is comedy at this point, I genuinely enjoy the platinum Nas stan threads, and the Nas joke threads that get stans furious for no reason.

nasty nas, to esco to escobar now he is........

That single made me avoid the album for years. Until, I eventually cave in and bought it just to make Esco's catalogue complete. When I first heard Jessica Care Moore on the intro, my mouth dropped. As I heard Life We Choose, Project Windows, Some Of Us Have Angels, Last Words, and Family; I couldn't believe I missed out on some great Nas songs that was reflecting on the arrival of the millenium.

:snoop: at Nas on TRL with 3D glasses on looking like a joke.

I love me some nas music and his catalog is second only to ghostface's IMO
But, he has some massive duds, and it took me a while to realize this. Nas on illmatic, stillmatic, lost tapes most of god's son, is unfukkwitable but the musicality on the other albums is extremely wide

The master- Rakim
World party- Goodie Mobb
Amplified- Q-tip
immobilarity- Raekwon

all came out in November 99 like Nastradamus. I'd take Nastradamus over any of them.

This. 99 was an excellent year, Nastradamus was an ok album, by no means was it the weakest album of 99 not by a longshot. It never was, people got their hopes way too high on that one.

amplified was considered a so-so album at best, time has revised this statement somewhat but it was panned at the time of release, Q-Tip was trying too hard.

this is another album i actually really enjoyed that got shyt on. i understand why people didn't like it since it was such a drastic shift away from the tribe sound, but i always thought amplified was good in its own right.

The album gets a thumbs down from me because he wasted what could've been a brilliant concept album.

It had everything all set up for him: the title, album pic, y2k threat, songs like New World etc...and he just blew it by making an unfocused, jumbled mess bouncing from thug shyt to commercial shyt to thoughtful shyt.

Some great songs on there, but the album was not worthy of his caliber.

nastradamus has some dope songs on there like "project windows", "life we chose" and "last words"

but gottdamn, I'm no gonna give props to an album that contains "you owe me", "nastradamus", and "big girl". and its not like there's just 3 wack songs. the majority of the songs on there are not that good.
