Dudes getting to caught up in semantics. He didn't say it was the same as slavery, he said there are parallels and he's correct. Mainly black folks working in replaceable employee roles making white folks richer. This class system we live under is a direct result of slavery. That is to say coming out of slavery we as black ppl were never put on equal footing with whites as far as resources go. Black folks have and continue to this day to be bottom class citizens in a country we helped create! Those lack of resources and bottom class designation has therefore allowed whites to create and control most everything in this country including the NFL.

What i would love to see someday is 10+ of the richest blacks come together and start a new league(NFL or NBA to start). You pick 10 or the largest cities with large black populations and they each get one to start their team in. You don't have to call it a black league, it will be black regardless. You have one of the tenets of participation in this league be about pro-black empowerment, ie your participation in this league hinges on your thoughts and actions reflecting a willingness to be directly involved with programs that uplifting blacks at all times and building black communities all over this country. You'd also need a players/owners type union because one of the traps of capitalism is that you just focus on making as much money as possible. Work out revenue sharing system so owners still make more than the players(since they take all the monetary risk) but share the wealth as to be reflective of being a true community of blackness that just so happens to be about sports.

Colin right now is "bucking the system", "running away from the plantation" and they are gonna do everything in there power to do the equivalent of what they did to Kunta Kinte: chop his foot off. Take away his endorsements, demonize him in the media, even may blackmail him from the league and anything league related after his playing days are finished.

Athletes like Cam Newton knows this and that's why they choose to stay obedient, subservient, docile, to "remain on the plantation" so to speak instead of speaking out for their people.

The white man (owners) are housing, feeding and clothing them so they have most of the leverage. These athletes are fearful of pissing off massa and having their privileges taken away (whipped, amputated, neutered to parallel)
