Seems kinda contradictory
Living together on the idea that "if this trial period works, then we can work for a lifetime" does not make much sense. That would be a using a conditional idea to justify an unconditional agreement. I'm sure a woman who really wants to get married can do that for a year or so.
There's a reason marriages where the couples pre-cohabitated (a) have a higher divorce rate (b) report higher levels of unhappiness than those who wait.
Also, it can be just as big of a risk, financially, to live with someone (relationship wise) you aren't married to.
