Please dont go on a killing spree, plz. Morality isnt dependent upon God, religion or society. Not in a world where concepts like the Golden Rule and Reciprocity exist.

I agree...

Morality isn't dependent on God...Neither is religion...Religion is bigger than god...

Morality is Religion...

The Golden Rule is Religion...Why? Because when you have power, you don't need to treat people as you would want them to treat you...

For example, Puffy made the Lox sign a raw deal of a contract because he had the power of knowledge, and they didn't...He is close to being a billionaire, and they are still hustling in the minor leagues...

Clearly the Golden Rule isn't the best approach to life...

It's just a religious ideology that works well for people with relatively less social power...

Plus, I will NEVER go on a killing spree because I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to gain from it...

My religion tells me to make moves that benefit my health and wealth...Staying healthy to become wealthy in the most beneficial social environment is the message in my religion...

So doing things that will get me either sick, killed or in prison for the rest of my life are considered sinful...And I am true to my religion...

I think you think you are having some sort of philosophical awakening. This isn't the case. You are redefining the definition of religion to suit some argument.

I dont think so...

I am well aware of the popular belief that religion = superstition...

But religion does not need to be superstitious...

Basically, in my opinion, if you believe in right or wrong, you have a religion...Whether you chose to agree or not is a different issue...

If we had absolutely no religion, we wouldn't be so judgmental of others regardless of what they did...

Because, no human being is actually to blame for what they do (in the universal context)...Of course, if somebody killed my brother I would be emotionally upset, but logically, my brother's death is of no consequence to the universe (based on the current scientific knowledge)...

And whatever decision anyone of us make, is the only one we could of have made at the time, if we take into account all the variables that lead us to make the decisions that we make...

Religion teaches us to be judgmental, because there is no judgment in science...

I'm not religious nor an athiest.. but are you attempting to say that morality is only a byproduct of religion? In the animal kingdom their young is valued and protected, just like it is for us humans because we recognize on a certain level that the future of our species is dependent on them on a purely survival basis, without recognizing the chemical emotions which also play a part in why it is "wrong to kill children" :aicmon:

Those monkeys in those psychology experiments know right from wrong, they must follow a form on monotheism as well, huh?

primates had a sense of fairness as they objected strongly when others were rewarded more for carrying out the same task as themselves, often sulking and refusing to take part any further.
Another study looked for evidence of altruism in chimps and found they were often willing to help others even when there was no reward offered for doing so.

The Latin American primates are keen to share food and gifts with other monkeys for the pleasure of giving, he said.

'Everything else being equal, they prefer to reward a companion together with themselves, rather than just themselves,' he said. 'The research suggests that giving is self-rewarding for monkeys'

The problem is he's using religion to only mean morals, and not how the word is usually used. In that frame, he's just factually wrong, as we all acknowledge that morality goes beyond one's religion. What he's really trying to say is that morality is a byproduct of morality. Everyone has a set of morals, or beliefs on right and wrong ..... why he labels that "religion" I don't know. Then again, why do people label the universe "God". It's all very confusing, really.
