What a week, we start with Sony continuing to cry about exclusives. It is then proven that Sony pays companies to not appear on Gamepass. Then Silent Hill 2 gets announced as a Sony timed exclusive, then there’s a new trailer for third party, Sony exclusive FF16, and resident evil 4 gets Sony exclusive preorder content to finish out the week.

Regardless of your allegiance, you should be able to see the hypocrisy in action.

Sony on one hand is saying exclusive deals are bad and can cripple competition, while on the other hand locking up time, promotional and dlc content.

Not really sure how anyone can see this as anything else but what it is, and yes Nintendo and Microsoft have and do the same. The difference is neither is complaining nor do they do it to the extent Sony does currently.

Do you think buying your exclusives, and content is a good or bad thing? Is there a point where Sony, MS or Nintendo can buy too many exclusives or have too many exclusive deals?

They helped with resources once they acquired them, and with those resources they improved the game for Both PS plays and XB players. They could have easily said release what you were gonna release and then release the upgraded version for Xbox player when it's finished.

Instead PlayStation users got a complete game instead of one that was chopped up to fit into a budget, and the Xbox users got it on gamepass with next generation upgrades.

Can you list one record where something like this happened with playstation 1st party game?

SH2 is a year exclusive deal on PlayStation, PN2 got the full benefits of a complete game made available at launch for everyone. There was no delay or release of one version before or over another.

And what do they engage in exactly? Like I’ve said before, it’s not like they put a gun to anyone’s head when they make their deal. I personally think that Sony will be fine, but they did what Microsoft couldn’t do. Which was convince developers that timed exclusives on the PS5 would benefit their wallets. They did what they had to in order to be the platform that the majority of gamers want to be on. Microsoft didn’t. So yeah they’re complaining because Microsoft is going and taking stuff off the shelf.
