Not more often but the fact is it happens. We talk about something as complicated as genetic phenotype like we can put it into boxes but there are so many instances and examples that exist outside of received wisdom that no generalisation stands up to scrutiny.

Oh, you're one of 'those' black people. I've had some people tell me I'm not really black because 'black' people all have ONE look apparently. If you're light-skinned or your hair is looser in texture, you must be impure, and your black card must immediately be revoked. Sigh, black people are the most diverse in the world. Even without mixing we come in all shapes, shades, sizes, different hair textures etc. There isn't one universal look for all black people. So no, you're not going to kick me out of the black community. Sorry.
