Voter registration lists, also called voter rolls, are the gateway to voting. A citizen typically cannot cast a vote that will count unless her name appears on the voter registration rolls. Yet state and local officials regularly remove—or “purge”—citizens from voter rolls.

So if I voters rolls were altered voters would show up and not be registered or potentially more dubious have their address changed and no longer be able to vote at their polling location. Lord forbid they require ID and the addresses don't match up. :camdup:
