When you're referring to landmasses
giphy.gif

How does an island float? It would need to be less dense than water. There would also need to be some mechanism to keep them from moving around. Can you explain that to me?
The continental landmasses move though...

They've been moving around for damn near all of recorded history

Even your science priests say that...

I'm not threatening death on people who have different views than me...

I'm threatening fukking morons who deny centuries of proven scientific facts because their favorite celebrity/politician/sports star watched some dumbass on YouTube and tweeted about it...:francis:

Your ilk is as enlightened, intelligent and special as the fire hydrant my dog pissed on this morning...

Entertaining your cancerous stupidity and debating you on this issue would be equivalent to be debating that fire hydrant...
So why are you in here seeking my attention?

You have to pick an argument. Are you arguing ground speed, air speed, Earth's rotational speed? You're arguing two things at once, which is making it hard to pin down a rebuttal.
You said that we are living in a closed system, meaning that the atmosphere rotates with the earth and at the same rate, correct?

If the atmosphere and the earth are not rotating at the same speed, then the system is not closed

It means exactly what I said, the sun sets between 6pm and 9pm all year

Again, that shouldn't be happening according to heliocentric theory/sidereal days

Are you purposely being obtuse?

:comeon:

Why isn't solar noon that same time every day? Why isn't the sun at the same longitudinal position at the same time every day?

Because it's corkscrewing/spiraling, first inward towards the north pole, then back outwards, towards the arctic circle

So at any point in time, the sun is either spiraling closer to your position or spiraling away from it

It's never static

This has nothing to do with that I asked you. I asked if you are using air speed, ground speed, or Earth's rotational speed. You're arguing the meaning of "closed system," which is not what I'm asking you about.

:hubie: I see you're trying to be disingenuous by calling them science priests and making this some pseudo religious debate.

If you believe that we live in a closed system, then all of those speeds are the same

:sas1:

Dude still squawking about a 'closed system' but simple geometry/algebra shows that the higher you go above the surface of the Earth, the faster the atmosphere travels. This increase in velocity 62 mi. above is only 25 mph. faster than the surface velocity and is easily overcome by the Jet Stream, air pressure differences at different altitudes (pressure gradient) and temperature differences which create wind, and friction. So, no, clouds don't have to travel at the same speed as the ground as there are several different vectors which act upon them to increase/decrease their speed within the 'closed system'.

Fail to comprehend how physics works on large, 3-dimensional masses, brehs.

:sas2:

God bless you brehs who engage this idiot on more complicated aspects. Anybody who asserts the earth is flat but no accurate map exists which lays all the known lands out is a bonafide idiot or a troll.

I couldn’t remember which retarded response he had for the fact that earth could not be laid out accurately on a flat map. I remembered one just claimed a map didn’t exist (turns out it was him, although he has posted purported flat earth maps in the past, until I backed him into that corner), and the other flat earth idiot (@Swagnificent) just claimed that the daily flights between Chile and Australia were just fakes. :laff:

You euro-stepped right past the part of my post where I corrected your incorrect statement about floating landmasses

You thought you were gonna catch me in a contradictory position but you exposed yourself:francis:

And yes, this is a religious debate

Summer in the southern hemisphere would have the least amount of daylight since the sun would travel a further distance in that same 24 hours.

Not possible.

Continents move due to plate tectonics. They're not moving in the same way a body floating in or on water would move.

They wouldn't be the same regardless. If a plane is traveling at the speed of sound (767mph) and the air is moving 200mph, the air speed is only 567. This is why i ask you to specify.
