AJ Styles was in NJPW like two years less than Omega and had two IWGP Heavyweight title reigns on top of making the Bullet Club a household name. Without AJ's run Omega wouldn't even be in that position, plus in his absence he benefited the most from NJPW starting to do US shows and focusing more on American expansion. You can put an asterisk on half his NJPW run because first and foremost he just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Woah woah woah. That last sentence got you sounding like anybody could've stepped up & filled that role. :usure:

Kenny most definitely built on what AJ started/continued, but he & the bucks (with cody) have taken the BC/Elite to places that AJ never would have.

It may have been harsh but it's partly the truth. I don't think anyone could easily fill that role (see the struggles of Jay White) but Omega became the top gaijin at the right time as NJPW started to expand into the US. Hell, one can easily argue that Jay White's insane push is also the result of this. And that's not to discredit Omega as a performer, because he certainly filled the void AJ left behind faster and better than most would have imagined, but he had the time and backing behind him too.

Something people also haven't considered is what will happen with the Young Lions they cycle in/out when they Shot Umino puts on piff matches when given the chance, and when he comes back from his eventual excursion, should be a star. Ren Narita should be alright too, despite his most noticable feature being that he looks like Asian 21 Savage.

NJPW gonna be alright, and shockingly, it's probably because they have system in place to at least attempt to develop new stars.

In what world did Kenny's run not eclipse Aj's run? He went from Jr. Heavyweight to Heavyweight and managed to get a Tokyo Dome Main Event. AJ never had that. He was always positioned at the top but never how Kenny was. Kenny was main eventing shows with a useless belt.

Ah was way better and the matches were actually better.

Meltzer just came up with this six star shyt because all of wrasslin is shackled by the fact the Benoit tiger mask bout was/is the best match and finish in wrasslin history. So, Meltzer gave kudos to kenny/okada to move from out that shadow.
As kenny/okada was basically a suped up version of the match and finish. Yet still not as good wholeheartedly as pegasus/tiger.

Yet it had to be done. So I understand the psychology of what the six star bout is.
Pas that aj is still better than Kenny. Yet I enjoyed Kenny's run till he made it fukk'n gay as fukk.

Which ruined the domestic permeation of njpw. Which may never get a chance to permeate as a mainstream drawing domestic promotion again.
Whomever did not veto the re-intro of gl.
does not understand global marketing dynamics at all.
Nor how to create a boom.

NJPW is always going to be alright unless they lose their entire top crew all at once. WWE, NJPW, and AAA/CMLL are big enough/established enough that losing big talents ultimately usually doesn't have too much impact. Losing Kenny, who was effectively a part timer compared to the other NJ main event guys, is whatever. Losing Cody and the Bucks mean nothing at all. Losing Jericho is nothing since he only popped in every 6 months. It would be bad if they lost Okada/Tanahashi/Naito at the same time, but I bet losing one of the three probably wouldn't have a significant dent in business, especially long term.

Huh? You'd rather him hold his talent down like WWE does?

It's the wrestling business, time for the next man up.

They also could have done a proper Ibushi/Omega blow off and pull the trigger on Ibushi as a top guy even though he's been mostly freelance Ibushi is a guy who would have benefited greatly from that.
Ibushi would have to sign with them outright to get a real push. And he won't.
