if paul pierce and dirk can be champions in this era, larry bird would :eat:. A greater shooter is always gonna be a great shooter no matter what era, a great passer is always gonna be a great passer no matter what era, the question would be whether he'd still be a great rebounder and defender. I suspect he'd still put up slightly lesser lebron type numbers.

threads like this always make me think about if Lebron played in the 80's. Bron with a tougher 80's mentality, throwin elbows, fightin n shyt :ohlawd:

no hate, but imagine larry legend pullin this shyt

Larry would be start throwin fists immediately :heh:

and thats nothing against Lebron, just a different league these days.

People have showed a lack of knowledge or they just didn't get to see Larry play back in the day. Saying Bird wouldnt ball out in this era is like saying Magic wouldnt ball in this era either cuz they slow and unathletic. But when you dont rely on your athleticism and you have all time great talent and knowledge of the game you will shine no matter the era. Larry Bird was averging 20 and 10 in his last season in the early 90's. And though the game has changed somewhat over the years it hasn't changed that much to where you can't see that Bird would be dominate. The only thing that may would change is maybe he would take more three's a game in this day and age.

This

Paul Pierce is an example of why Bird would be the exact same player now.

Actually,....
If we took bird out the time machine in 08.
With the Boston three party,...
Even with garnett's injury in 09.
The Celtics could arguably be working on their fifth postseason championship.

Bird would be the best player in the game, too.
With no peer mentally as a competitor.
Plus, no bigs or players mobile enough to handle him off screens on the perimeter.
Also,...
The numbers bron was getting.
Bird did better and did not have to work up to it, as a work in progress.
With a much higher competitive execution in the clutch, and basketball IQ.

Boston lineup : over the years of o8- 13

Rondo/avery
Rey rey shuttlesworth/lee/daniels
Pierce
Bird/bass/big baby
Garnett/sheed/undertaker/that light skinned nikka at center, whose name I forgot

that's how defense against rondo looks.

steve blake can drop 15 a night when given playing time. Now bird wouldn't get points? 80's athletes were flabby and sick?

c'on look at 40yrd times in football....not much has changed since the days of deion sanders, bo Jackson, and Hershel walker. And those dudes were athletes to the core.

That bigger, stronger, fast mess is crap! We don't chase down animals on foot for survival. If anything we are probably slower compared to caveman times in terms of sprinting! I think endurance is probably better for man today.

nikkas on this site, think humans evolve every 10 years.

The answer is better technology, medicine, and training is what makes athletes better today.

nikkas aren't coming out the wound running 3.5 with a 55 inch vertical

There are a lot of good players in the league," he'll say. "And on any given night any player can get hot and do anything he wants to. Some guys are very consistent and some guys are just great, but there are probably about 20 guys up there all the time. Now, I figure three out of four nights I'm going to play better than anybody else in the game. If you want to know who the best player in the league is, I'll put my money night after night on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He's the best. After him I'd probably take Julius Erving. And then, when it comes to a player who can do everything consistently, you'd have to say Elvin Hayes. There are just so many good players.". —Larry Legend
