So what is it that

YOU DO

What do you want us to do?

You keep blathering on about what doesn't work and why it's hopeless

Tell us what will work and tell us how you're making it happen

I've said what I do on here before. I run a community non-profit with a focus on young Blacks. But that's beside the point.

If you want to put your hope in a vote, then the first thing you need to do is make sure those votes count. Get rid of the "refinements" like the electoral college. You know why it's called a "refinement?" Do you know anything at all about the political history of this country? But you do know that without it your white savior Clinton would have won and ya'll could've gone back to sleep for four years?

We've been trying to give solutions for years, and you lazy ass nikkas been running your big mouths and ignoring us for all those years. Why? Because not only would these solutions take some actual work, but then you'd see white folk drop the facade pretty quickly. Which means it would also take some courage.

We've suggested seriously looking into Elijah Muhammad's/Min. Farrakhan's nickel a day economic plan. We reworked the numbers to a dime a day, which wouldn't cost any of us individually any more than $24 a year, but which would produce hundreds of millions annually, but did anyone listen? No. Better to keep complaining about why Oprah or Tyler Perry or some other rich nikka won't put their millions up to help us get where we need to be. We could run it like a community co-op, but on a national scale. But again, no, it's better to put your hope in a vote, while continuing to get suckered by any fool that comes along to rob the Black community in the name of Black Consciousness.

Now I just gave two solutions, which we've been giving for years, and which you'll continue to ignore, because you didn't really want any solutions to begin with. You were just hoping I was on here bullshyttin.

The civil rights act was called for by Kennedy. Voting for Kennedy is what led to the act being signed into law.

Your argument around these things not being SPECIFIC to black people is child like simple minded bullshyt.

It's like being mad at your parents for always feeding you and your siblings but not doing anything for you specifically. Shut the fukk up.
Why?

Are you serious???

You know that policies are obstensibly made specifically for other groups over black people right? That the word "black" is not to be used for the purpose of leading black people on right?

Yes. You fools are discounting things that benefit black Americans because they weren’t specifically spelled out to be ONLY for black Americans. That is such a silly fukking way of thinking.

For example one of the first things Obama did as President was lessen the discrepancy between the mandatory sentencing of crack and powder cocaine. This is something that was put into law specifically to target blacks in the urban community. But because Obama didn’t say he was doing this for blacks and black people only, and that it also helps non black drug offenders, you will have idiots like @xCivicx saying he did nothing for blacks.

It’s a silly fukking argument.

I'm not saying Obama did nothing for black people. But I'm also not pretending that benign neglect is a myth

First of all, I never said that abstaining means you don't care. Rather, what I was getting at was that the notion of not voting for someone because they aren't a friend to Black people is stupid. No one has ever been a friend to Black people. If that was the test, we'd still be under Jim Crow. Of course there are some people on here who say that we'd be better of in Jim Crow. I'm not going to debate the same topic every year. I'm smart enough to be able to discern between an enemy and lukewarm friend. Do you and I'll do me.
So, do you think you’re smarter than anyone who doesn’t vote like you?

Where did I say they should care, wait for them to care, and do nothing? :jbhmm:

Keep your assuming nonsense to yourself.

You are complacent in your inaction, that says all I need to know.

It's an ain't shyt mindset, whether or not it's your intent, this is what comes across. Same way you assume Trump and Harris do not care about black men. Btw, don't take it so personally. Millions in this country have the same attitude.

I'll take it a step further. Name me any candidate for house, senate or the presidency (that has had a genuine chance of winning), that would qualify as a genuine friend of Black people. Tell me: 1) how they have improved things for Black people 2) policies that they enacted or supported that had a realistic chance of winning. There is a fundamental misunderstanding about how politics works. Black people are the most politically immature people on earth. Politicians don't lead they follow. You rally support to your cause and eventually politicians will act. Any major legislation that has been enacted in this country for Black people has happened because of a prolonged campaign to insert the issue into the societal conversation. Was Abraham Lincoln a friend of Black people? He said that he'd be happy to keep all the slaves in bondage if it meant preserving the union. Was JFK a friend to Black people? He had to be literally forced by the Civil Rights movement to call desegregation a moral issue. Was LBJ a friend to black people? He had to be forced by the Selma march to enact voting rights. You don't vote for friends. You vote for people who can understand and empathize with your cause and then create a movement and force politicians to act.

People in here wondering why Obama didn't do more. It was because deep down the average Black person was satisfied with him being the first Black president. People wonder why the Democratic Party doesn't do more. It's because the average Black person is apathetic. You find a charismatic leader that eloquently and passionately make the case for prison reform. You get some people to go out and start marching and organizing for it. And watch how quickly the Democratic Party will follow our lead.

So basically by the consensus in this thread, if Kamala was the democratic candidate people are going to write in a third party candidate or not vote at all, which means Trump again.

I’m torn. I’ve skimmed through a few Kamala threads and get why there’s opposition. Her policies and record in the past have been problematic, she is fake, pandering, has no real ties to blacks, so no vested interest in us. But seems to have vested interest in gays for instance. And truthfully had Obama had a white wife I wouldnt have voted for him. I know that’s not the only reason people are refusing to vote for her, but I know it’s one of the reasons.

But are we saying that a racist, stupid, crazy—only care about the wealthy—Trump is still a better option for us as opposed to Kamala?

I’m not sure yet, if I’m going to vote for her, do a write in or sit this one out. But damn it, I don’t want another Trump presidency. :sadcam:
