yeah..he didnt lose his belts

it also means canelo is still the lineal MW champion which irritates me more
So his next fight win, lose, or draw would count as his 20th defense and tie BHop?

Hadn't really thought about this before. For some reason I was only thinking it counted as a defense if you won. :yeshrug:

Hard to say............they both had great jab. Hopkins wasn't the busiest fighter but he had great footwork and lateral movement. He was also pretty decent counterpuncher. GGG has good counter jabs and pressure. I would slightly favor hopkins because he has a way of stiffling opponents though GGG would make things tough in there
Your last sentence is why I think Hopkins would win. Hopkins was one of the most gifted fighters mentally and had an iron chin himself. I think he ties up and clinches GGG a lot and frustrates the shyt out of him and the fans. At this point to me Hopkins is tier 1 all time great MW's and GGG is in tier 2.

I'm a jacobs fan, much rather see a Jacobs rematch, even though I believe he was legit robbed against GGG, because i know it will be a fairer fight for both than anyone dealing with GoldenBoy and a Canelo fight.

I've said it since the Trout robbery, and the bullshyt with Lara and Floyd and last night confirm it.
You will NeVER get a fair decision against CAnelo with Goldenboy period.
He has the machine behind him absolutely and completely.

Jacobs fight was closer than this fight IMO.. I have to watch this fight again.. I gave GGG 8 or 9 rounds

I still think GGG got more good fights in him. How many more I dunno but for all the talk about his age he's still in excellent condition.

I had it even after 6, I had GGG with 9 rounds, I can understand him winning 7 - 9 rounds, anything less or more I can't buy at all.
With Jacobs I had him in the 7 - 8 range of won rounds

He has more fights in him and can keep fighting at an elite level, albeit clearly not in his prime.

That said, both in their prime I pick Hopkins. Too good on the inside, to good at tying up and smothering offense, and physically Hopkins is the bigger man.

That said I could see the fans being pissed. They will have wanted GGG to get his offense off and Hopkins would smother it. Die hards would know what they were getting and expect a fight with less action and more of a strategic battle. Casuals would say Hopkins held and ruined the fight.

GGG is usually a class act but someone really should tell him to leave this Mexican style gimmick behind
talking about himself as he would be Mexican, criticizing Canelo for not having Mexican style... :childplease:
Aside that I think this whole national pride topic is a bullshyt how comes a Kazakh telling a true Mexican what he's supposed to do to be more Mexican
He even calls himself partially Mexicn now cause what.. he has a Mexican coach and he likes to eat burritos?

isn't this called cultural appropriation or something like that?
also a generalization of Mexican boxing as some barbarian dog fight as opposed to his "sophisticated, well honed, fundamentally perfect Euro amateur style".

I really think he is a class act and he just does this because he doesn't know better, he doesn't think about what this really means and there's nobody around him who would tell him not to do. In fact HBO intentionally built him up in the States with this Mexican style "PR".

He gave a shout to Mexicans before shouting out to his own ppl :bryan::russ:

Someone got in his head bad :lolbron: or the money did

I gotta give major props to GGG. As one of his biggest critics on here, he deserves all my props. I had him winning 116-112. I think I gave Canelo 2,3,10,12. Really impressed with his GGGs chin. Canelo needs to clinch more instead of backing up to the ropes in the rematch. GGGs chin and stamina are ATG.

:salute:
