A lot of the people who crack jokes about people being fatherless, have dads who ain't around either or just don't care about them.

Or they got other issues, (mama's on drugs, they can't read or multiply, etc) but just feel like, "at least I know my daddy". Classic deflection.

Talking about it and the problems that may come with dealing with a female who grew up that way isn't as bad as insulting someone because of it. There should be a dialogue, but it shouldn't be used as an insult. The only people who say "you know what, i want to be fatherless", are people who end up murdering their fathers. They were just born messed up in the head. People usually have no choice at all.

Well, never seen anybody joke about it offline. I grew up on a block that had about 30 black males. Only me and 1 other kid had a father in the home......I never understood it.

Whats funny is, it wasn't until I was bout 30 (), that I was able to connect the dots. Single moms or grandma raising the kids was the norm. My sister child's father is in prison and my nephew is out of control.

I'll die before my son heads down that path.
