If Drake wrote 75% of his raps, would you give him a pass?

If he wrote 75% of his raps I'd say he wouldn't be automatically DQ'd from any consideration in terms of status as a rapper, the way he is in reality
But I don't care for his music anyway, so :manny:

So that kills Tupac too and ghostface and others if we wanna talk about it :unimpressed:
Depends on the extent of the ghostwriting. Most people generally don't care about ghost hooks but Drake seems to have had entire verses and songs ghostwritten for him

People even claim Hush wqs the ghostwriters for the timestamp songs, which are Drake's signature lyrical miracle tracks.

I'd give him more respect as an artist for sure, but with what's out there on him it's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt that he's writing 75% of his sh1t
Very few artists write more than 75% of their shyt outside of some particular genre. Hip hop fans making such a big deal about this is part of the reason why it’s such a fukking joke these days. A bunch of MSs who can’t get through an office shift without ChatGPT are gonna point pitchforks? GTFOH

Stop the cap, pull up a Tupac or Ghostface reference track, where a whole song was laid out and they rapped it word for word.

We make a big deal out of it because if you ain't writing, then wtf are you doing as a rapper? He's not a producer, he doesn't play instruments. If he's not writing his work, then he's just a damn fraud. A pop star exclusively.

If his fans are fine with that, then cool. But he's rightfully criticized for that in hip hop spaces.

Even taking our hooks, Tupac and ghost face would be getting removed
