If Bobby Hurley had been drafted in 2013 instead of 1993...

The fact that Hurley was drafted 7th overall in 1993 should say something about how allegedly difficult and allegedly tough the nba was back then

you'd have a point if hurley was successful.

better guys were drafted later that night, like nick van exel.

This is jive talk. Curry is an exceptional passer, and always has been. And he was a better passer and defender than Abdul-Rauf.

Also Curry is three inches taller than Abdul-Rauf and has like 20 lbs on him.

Everything is predicated off of his hall of fame amazing shooting ability. He is able to get free drives to basket because people rush to close out on him, and he's able to fake and drive

He's able to rack up assists because he's constantly doubled on the perimeter, and the opposing team that they are doubling off of is able to get wide open shots

Notice how when Curry's shot isn't falling he's not able to pass the ball or drive to the basket with ease

Curry is not an exceptional passer or defender. They are about equal. Abdul-Rauf's skillset would be enhanced in this era
Yo, you can't have watched these guys play. :russ:

Curry is 6'3" and has quick hands and at least tries hard on defense. He led the NBA in steals one year. There are articles all over the internet pointing out that Curry is a better defender than his reputation suggests. Abdul-Rauf was smaller than Curry and did not play defense AT ALL. He straight had no positive defensive attributes, on-ball or off-ball. Calling him Curry's equal on defense is as ridiculous as saying that Dame plays defense as well as Mike Conley.

And Curry is definitely an above-average passer. That was never part of Abdul-Rauf's game. You're just saying stuff now.

We don't really know what Hurley would have been because he got his body smashed into little pieces about 20 games into his rookie season and barely recovered. Not saying there wasn't talent in that draft but the fact that Hurley was drafted #7 with his skill set says a lot about what you could get away with back then. Same draft where Shawn Bradley went #2 even though he had only played one year of college ball and been a missionary in Australia for the last two years lol. That's as if they drafted Tacko Fall ahead of Ja Morant.

(By the way, that draft class had some fukking character. JR Rider, Sam Cassell, Nick van Exel, Penny Hardaway, Vin Baker, Allan Houston, Chris Webber, Shawn Bradley, Bobby Hurley....that might be in the running for the GOAT reality-show draft class.)

I have a point because Hurley was even drafted that high to begin with.

coming off an illustrious college career, and months before the car accident.

and he wasnt soft. so i dont know why you would question the league's toughness with his pick.

well of course. im the one who brought up the accident in the 1st place.
just defending the draft class in that previous post.

and yea, theres some other guys in that draft who didnt pan out in the league but you couldve put them on that reality show as well. not one of the greatest drafts, but one of my personal favs.

This is why I hate nba stats. I’m. I am judging Curry’s passing based on his assist totals. I’m judging his passing based on where he puts the ball. He makes the right passes and puts players in a position to score.

People underplay his passing because he is the GOAT shooter but he is a great passer too.

This was one of the last classes that vets didn’t look out for young players and the young players were not professional when entering the league.

The shift happened starting in ‘96 and became complete in the late aughts.

How many triple doubles would he have had?

*for this hypothetical, assume the following:
-He is still 22 years old when drafted
-He still has the car accident
-The auto manufacturing differences in those 20 years do not have a material difference on his injuries

He'd still be slow.

and im not saying that hes reality show material but back to basketball, the bul travis ford was before his time. sort of a pre-cursor to steve nash.

for those who saw him at kentucky, yall think he would have a place in today's league?

Breh Travis Ford is a 5'9" white boy who couldn't even get drafted in an era where Muggsy Bogues was a reliable starter on a playoff team. :pachaha:
