If Africa's borders looked like ethnic groups, it would look like this

And?

How does this discredit the fact that European colonial powers drew self-serving lines on the ground that split up existing ethnic groups and lands?
If the Sioux fought the Pawnee indians, does that somehow erase the US taking over lands and redistributing that population?

It doesn't discredit it. It shows that the division between African ethnic groups existed long before Europeans ever came and it was those division that the Europeans exploited. Where do you think the phrase "divide and conquer comes from?"

Wouldn't have happened. If whites left the continent alone, African powers would have grown and swallowed up multiple tribes into one (ala Qin/Han/Zhou dynasty in China or the Zulus before the British). Alot of people would've died so that sucks but, it would've happened regardless. Would've been better off in the long term as a large population of people would've been united under one culture instead of there being 10,000 different tribes.
exactly!!

EDIT: Many of the larger kingdoms already were conquering smaller and weaker ethnic groups and spreading their influence throughout the neighboring lands.
This is Part of the reason why some Africans People speak so many different dialects.

Why do people act like Africa should have always been united Was Europe always united no and they still aren't. And Africa is larger and culturally more diverse than Europe. Hell were the ethnic groups of the Americas united? No, each ethnic had their OWN cultures and civilizations. Why is it only Africa that people say "but WHY WERENT THEY UNITED!?"

Probably because they get all of their info from White peoples research lol. The only way people will be able to get the true histories of African civilization is if blacks are funding the research imo. White people toss around the term tribe to delegitimize African kingdoms IMO.

the japanese didn't and they kept them out. organization is key, guns back then were not that better than swords and spears.
The Europeans were able to conquer many kingdoms with the help of rival tribes/ethnic groups.

Similar to The west Backing rebels and freedom fighters to help overthrown dictators in the middle east during arab spring,

thus allowing them access to resources and geopolitical influence

That bears repeating. The Europeans did not just walk into Africa and start taking resources. They had help from African ethnic groups in overthrowing different African ethnic groups. The European then made the groups that helped them the Colonial overseers if you will; just like in slavery where the White man would set up Black men as overseers of other Black people on the plantations. Without the aide of Black people the stuff that happened to Black would not have even happened.

Somalis would've swallowed the whole Eastern Africa if we weren't checked by 3 European superpowers at the same time. Italy, France, Great Britain, and the bytchass Ethiopian Empire. If I ever was chosen to rule Somalia, Greater Somalia would be priority number one.

This map from a cac in 1959 (before gene testing began on ethnic and racial grouos) is wrong. There is no ethnic, as signalled by genetics, division in all of Nigeria let alone all those parts of it. So this map is wrong on that basis alone. Studies on Nigerians and Ghanaians do not indicate a difference in ethnicity.

Sudan/New Zealand.
All praise to the Mahdist Sudanese (despite the shyt they did to Sudanese Coptic Christians and Ethiopia) @Misreeya

That is a important event in Sudanese, Egypt, and the muslim world History, indeed i have mixed opinions and conflicted in the Mahdist war, although today he is a national hero. In one end, he has galvanize all the groups in resistance to colonial powers, but on the other he had forced many Christians to convert to islam, however when the British established control in Anglo Egypt Sudan, many Copts reconverted back to Christianity. Also, as i remembered from my personal reading he was a big advocate of slavery of ethnicity further South or South Kordofan near today South Sudan, who Northern individuals business people used to trade these people to North Africa and the Middle East, and they kept a host of slaves themselves, it was a major source of income back then as you know, and today some of the big(rich) families in the north are descendant from people who once practiced that trade, but a few now own major businesses in the country and elsewhere. Actually the actor Alexander Siddig who is half British and Northern Sudanese, and was a actor of "Games and Throne" an his ancestry is from those people, and his Uncle is a major player in Sudanese politics today.

Among the forces historians see as the causes of the uprising are ethnic Sudanese anger at the foreign Turkish Ottoman rulers, Muslim revivalist anger at the Turks' lax religious standards and willingness to appoint non-Muslims such as the Christian Charles Gordon to high positions, and Sudanese Sufi resistance to "dry, scholastic Islam of Egyptian officialdom."[2] Another widely reported potential source of frustration was the Turco-Egyptian abolition of the slave trade, one of the main sources of income in Sudan at the time.[3]

Muhammad's personal disavowal of slavery and his unwillingness to end it (in addition to Quranic verse which condones forced sex with female captives of war) make me extremely unlikely to even draw philosophical inspiration from Islam.

Anyway, why did the Mahdists invade Ethiopia?
