My mom job she been at for 20 years fired all the black people and retained all the bilinguals most of which were there for much shorter . My city used to be majority black

A lot of Spanish speakers that come from other countries don’t know English well enough, so they often stay at the same low paying jobs.

A car wash near me that I frequent has had this thick Jawn working there for over 5 years.. im talking about being outside in the summer heat 90+ degrees all day, winter cold 30 and below degrees every day.. ain’t no woman should be working that type of job let alone an attractive one.

But there is some merit in the concern.
speaking as someone who lives in a city with tons of mexicans the nepotism is real

its not something black and white where they just do it to black americans(they period hire mexicans over everybody by all means) but its something you cant ignore when you or a loved one is looking for a job and they struggle cause mexicans are hiring every mexican and their 2nd cousin removed to the job(nvm the mexican centered businesses you aint getting shyt) before you even if you are more qualified/experienced

i have had some family members win a job because a Mexican helped them but theres a bunch who will not hire you if you aint Mexican.

Most decent jobs that aren’t entry level require some level of referral nowadays.

Back when I did help desk work, most of the people there were referrals. You gotta know somebody.

I'm just not with the idea of not even trying because you might hear "no", or what somebody might say. It's not the end of the world. Try anyway. Too many people out here living their lives like literal hostages, scared to go here-there-wherever because it's an unfamiliar space. So.the.hell.what. Life is for living, try things dammit. Ask questions. Make a mistake. Learn a better way. Heck, teach somebody your better way if you find out your way is better. Whatever. Just try at least. Too often, these threads turn into something way different than a simple "I'm having this difficulty", into a "woe is us" chorus. And that's some crippling weight to tote around all the time.

true for the most part. depends if its a regular spot or somewhere with a culturally latin environment. but we have a bad reputation. true or not. i have a construction company and 99 percent of my workers are mexican. they always on time, work hella hard and dont complain. the couple black folks that weve put on the team work hard too, but sometimes they are late and seem more likely to have issues. dont get me wrong we've had some of our mexican workers fall off but at least it was kind of a clear case. one of the first guys we hired was black and very good at what he did but after a few jobs seems like he caught feelings and wanted more money without just cause. the latin community is hella racist culturally and those that arent had good parents or worked to erase theyre predjudice. at the end of the day they take care of each other and we not them
