Of course the ATL
I’m going Bamba brehs.

1. This will probably be the highest we pick during this rebuild so we might as well swing for the fences. Bagley could be a perineal all-star, but Bamba could change the game altogether.

2. I think Bagley will only impact the game as much as his stats say he does. Not saying they’ll be empty, but I don’t see him drawing so much attention he gets teammates open shots consistently, making hockey assists, affecting shots regularly, etc. Meanwhile, Bamba will effect every shot a team takes simply by being on the court, which takes me to....

3. Coach Pierce is already on record saying defense will be this team’s calling card. Bagley should be at the least an adequate defender, but Bamba could be a generational defensive talent.

4. Breh who said Bagley and Collins would be redundant was right. I definitely think they could play together, but both would benefit from not being the biggest big man on the court. Collins reminds me of Horford in that he shouldn’t be a center, no matter how good he plays the position. Collins and Bamba could provide the defense, rebounding, and rim protection that we would need to contend for a title. They could both average 15 a piece just off rim runs/oops/putbacks too. We would still need consistent perimeter scoring, but that’s what the wings are for.

5. The only PFs who have been the #1 option on a team that got to the finals in the last 30 years are Barkley, Malone, Duncan, and Dirk, with Kemp, Rasheed Wallace, KG, and Gasol being the only #2s off the top of my head. If I’m missing somebody, let me know. The NBA is evolving but building around a 4 has not shown to result in championships historically and I’m not sold on Bagley being the one to break that trend.

I’m good with Bagley or even Porter at 3, but I’m goin with the nikka with 8 foot arms

I'm concerned with getting a prospect who isn't really an offensive threat...another aspect of what Pierce and Schlenk (who is the architect of this rebuild and will ultimately make the personnel decisions) is how versatile he wants this roster to be. They want to be able to anticipate the next wave of athletes into the NBA. Look at the game now...it's played 30 feet and in as opposed to inside out. shyt Pierce just said he wants Collins shooting threes. So if I had to guess just based on what Hawks management and the coaches have said I think they want to create a team that can extend out, be athletic, shoot threes and also defend. Bamba will never be a three point threat, Bagley could be and is a better overall prospect than Bamba is at this moment. It's a wing driven league now brehs...I don't think going with a big who can't shoot long range is the best decision for how to build this team

This is my entire point. Bagley is not a wing. If there’s not a wing worth drafting then you draft the best wing-stopper available. We get Bamba, we need an elite wing to compete in this league. We get Bagley, we STILL need an (at least borderline) elite wing AND we’ll still have questions about our defense going forward. Give me a longer, more mobile Rudy Gobert over a better developed, less explosive Blake Griffin :manny:

If Blake with a jumper is Bagley’s ceiling and Bamba is a more advanced Goebert, then there’s no way you pass on Bagley for Bamba. Sure having elite defense is important for a big, but you guys are so devoid of talent that you can’t pass on a 20/10 guy.

At the end of the day, you can always draft or sign a paint proctecting big, but 20/10 guys are a bit harder to come by.

A more advance Goebert, I highly doubt that. Bamba is the better fit when you include John Collins, but is a potiential superstar worth passing on for Bamba/Collins. It's hard to tell, I know personally for me I'd have a hard time passing on a supersta, but Collins/Bamba would compliment each other well.

He ain't Blake with a jumpshot. Stop trying to use player comparison for these guys.

The best combination for Bagley is Bosh/Rodman/Westbrook

His feel for the game, BBIQ, offensive versatility is like a rookie Bosh.

Defensive versatility is like a rookie Rodman.

His relentlessness, motor, freakish athleticism like a Westbrook for his position

I'm on record as saying the strategy needs to be to take BPA. Bagley > Bamba in that regard. I'm not worried about fit or team identity because we have very little talent on a rebuilding team. This team will grow into its identity and will draft/sign FAs to that need. And again if I look at current trends in the game, its being played further away from the rim. The value of a rim protecting big man isn't as valuable in today's NBA as it was 10-15 years ago. Teams can game plan to take a defensive big out of the game situationally as well. Also, 'Bagley can be groomed into a scorer with range, we'll never get that with Bamba

I just don't think the measurables of Bamba are > skillset and production of Bagley
