The success Jay has had career wise since is incredible but let's be real he took an L beefing with Nas. He baited a quiet Nas and woke a beast.
trueOh I know. I'm just saying when people reference that vote they always state is as people voting that Ether was better than Takeover and use that to say it's proof that Ether was better. I was just clearing up that misconception. Super Ugly was rushed and a sloppy response and that's why Jay lost.
WTF are you talking about, Jay literally retired soon after the diss came out, he took a break to recover from the diss. Blueprint 2 was a commercial flop and yes the Black Album sold well and was well received but it's sales success was mostly tied to his retirement announcement, he was getting lapped at the time by many artist around his retirement. Ether was massive in the culture when it came out. This revisionist history shyt with Ether is hilarious, yall Jay fanboys are just happy another battle took some steam off the history of Jay and Nas. Yall nikkas hiding behind this Drake/Kendrick stuff, naw, Jay got his ass handed to him too (pause). Jay came out of retirement and relied on strong alliances to build back his career (Kanye, Rihanna, Beyonce, R Kelly, Samsung)
When have we ever seen Nas wilding like that? Jay had Nas acting out of character too. Nas was always the super cool type that avoided drama and beef and media in general. Nas was definitely crashing out. Going after Nelly, Cam, Nore, Nature, Cormega, and Prodigy at that time. Joining up with Murda Inc and all that. Only reason it ain't looked at the same is cause he won.In NO way was Nas ever spiraling during the battle which is part of the reason why he ultimately won. The Hot 97 incident he was angry about because Hot 97 pulled a political move and wouldn’t let him perform the show HIS way at the last minute. Even when he went up to Power 105 he was very clear why he was angry and very confident in the fact that he’d won despite Jay pulling behind the scenes moves. He called out the hypocrisy of Hot 97 supporting Jay-Z and not being fair and told the world that he har their entire crew scattered like roaches.
You can’t rewrite history. We’ve got all the receipts that say that not only did Jay lose handily, his entire crew admitted it. Dame Dash, Biggs, Beanie Sigel, and Memphis Bleek are all record saying that Jay lost and was under pressure.
Jay’s laughing after winning the battle…Rap battle should no longer happen in rap anymore man but re-writing history needs to stop.
