That's dope that you can be so understanding after learning pacs debut single and a couple of other songs from his debut album were written by someone else...being able to look at that situation with some measure of nuance is admirable, it would have been so easy to take that information and then immediately follow the illogical fallacy of "since ray luv wrote trapped, Pac didn't write anything and is thus a complete fraud "

I can understand it to an extent - Pac wasn't an established artist yet, he didn't have his own style, and 2Pacalypse Now was him becoming a rapper. I really don't want to sound like I'm a Pac stan, but he was a back-up dancer turned rapper and his role models were real cats from the streets who had made music prior to him. Pac himself said that he studied Chuck D, KRS, Rakim and wanted to master their flow.

But if someone was to say that Pac had AEOM or other classics written for him, then I would lose all my respect.

Just lie and make up some shyt to push an agenda. You making up shyt bruh to go againt fax that have been proven.

Thats some silly shyt, you just may not be real enough to peep it.:manny:
And I was using Pac as just a reference for a hypothetical situation and a nikka IN THIS VERY THREAD posted a video of another nikka saying he wrote for Pac and vice versa

King Sun and Cypress Hill. nikka bit Volume 10 and Das Efx's style.

Cube's been stealing hooks for years:mjlol: so what else could he say.

King Tee even revealed that Ice Cube and himself had a ghostwriter :ohhh:

KING T: WEST COAST BOOM BAP (INTERVIEW) - CrazyHood.com

Crazy Hood: You collaborated with Ice Cube on the 1990 album At Your Own Risk with “Played Like A Piano,” as well as on the Triflin’ album with “A Hoe Before The Homie” in 1993. Tell me about those sessions with Ice Cube…

King T: With “A Before The Homie,” that’s when Deadly Threat came into the scene. Ice Cube really liked Deadly Threat and Threat wrote a lot of shyt for Cube and for me. He was just never able to get his shine. But that was just another joint we all came together on while being in the same studio. [Da] Lench Mob, Likwit [Crew], we just family really. And see, once Pooh got in with Da Lench Mob, he brought me in to produce for Cube; he brought Bobcat in to produce for Cube. A lot of people don’t know that I produced “Giving Up The Nappy Dugout” for Ice Cube on the Death Certificate album.

KING T: WEST COAST BOOM BAP (INTERVIEW) - CrazyHood.com
King T:
Well, we all worked in the same studio at Echo Sounds. We were always friends, and even though we had separate deals and different situations, it was us: Cube, King T, all of N.W.A. We were one, but we kept our shyt separate. With “Played Like A Piano,” DJ Pooh was working with Cube already, so it was bound to happen. We came in the studio, came up with the funky piano beat. It was like, “Cube, come on and get on this.” That shyt was nothing.

With “A Before The Homie,” that’s when Deadly Threat came into the scene. Ice Cube really liked Deadly Threat and Threat wrote a lot of shyt for Cube and for me. He was just never able to get his shine. But that was just another joint we all came together on while being in the same studio. [Da] Lench Mob, Likwit [Crew], we just family really. These people still don't understand ghostwriting ...

When the writer is credited its NOT ghostwriting ...
If i sell you a song and your name is there as writer and NOT mine.. then its ghostwriten..

but in this genre you cant be the best and not do your own... thats like Lebron saying he the best the then somebody else winning the mvp and finals mvp...

Imagine if we said bird/magic/jordan/barley (sorry.. showing my age) was the best but a noname cat won the MVP..

That why Arod gets so much flack .. he want to be the best etc but in 05 or was or 07 he choked and got slammed in the press..

Aubrey got these nikkas in they feelings

Back when I was a real semi-hip hop head, I never even paid attention when people said they wrote for others... It was that common. Now that I forgot/no longer care these nikkas acting like unless you got reference tracks then it didn't happen:mjlol:

Do your googles.. You'll discover that a lot of the nikkas you worship had a nikka with a lesser name pen shyt for them and it's nothing to be alarmed over

The subject matter with NWA was completely different. It was more about sending a message.

Its fine to ghost write that because only the right voices can really project the lyrics.

The problem with ghost writing now is that all these rappers do is brag. They all rap about the same things just using different words and they all say they're the best one to do it.

I would be perfectly fine if drake had a ghost writer if his music was about making the genre better by speaking on events and bringing a change. But drake/quentin dont so fuk that cac

I don't have to. Its was common back then with Grandmaster Caz, Silver Fox, Run DMC writing for The Beasties etc. You had Monche writing for Diddy ( funny because i never respected Diddy as an artist to begin with). As hip-hop grows views change ..such is evident with this thread and it discussion. I see i may have to voice my opinion: I think there is nothing wrong with with someone giving you a few bars ,the standard hook is 6-8 but when you have folks writing 16 bar verses, 32 bar verses. The devotion, dedication isn't there. Sometimes you have to step outside of what you thinking about it. Lets Step outside for a bit: if i wrote 100 bars of some straight impeccable shyt (triple entrendes, double clutching, word assonance, etc) and said "here i wrote this for you". And you deeming yourself a rapper, lyricist, or even a POET (like Black Ice or Amir Sulaiman or Ursula Rucker). It's not the same as if i sat down and penned it myself. Im tapping into a consciousness which is that my OWN. Even if your favorite authors ( because at the end of the day thats all rappers are...they just telling they story differently). let's say Donald Goines for example, since he has lot of fans...now he penned all these books..if it was to come out he didnt' write the books he get accolades for , would fans hold him in the same light? Probably Not

Imo is good that we have these discussions because ghostwriting (although i have some views about it) , is somewhat pertinent

The big difference is that the person he was ghostwriting for didn't call themselves the greatest lyricist that ever done it, picking fights with other known lyricists and also admitted that they didn't write their rhymes. Can't say the same thing about drake. He wants credit for something that he didn't do.

I'm sure cube would be saying a different tune if Eazy e was acting like drake refusing to acknowledge that he had a ghostwriter.
