The offense still needs work and there’s other good pitchers on the market. If they can get Monty on a good deal, bring him back. He should’ve never been traded to begin with. Go get Bellinger. See if Cleveland is open to trading their third baseman whose name I can’t recall. I want to say Ramirez. $325 million over 12 years for a guy who hasn’t ever thrown in the majors is a massive gamble. Also they need to have an extension lined up for Soto yesterday.

Losing Yamamoto is an L, but that deal risky as hell for a small pitcher who has never done anything major league hitters.

It won't hurt as much if that bum Rodon would pitch like the #2 he was brought in to be.

At the time I didn't blame Cashman for taking a shot at Donaldson. He was supposed to be a stopgap until Manny Machado hit free agency.

Donaldson fell off a cliff in terms of production from his time in Minnesota.

And Machado signed an extension with the Padres.

It blew up in his face.

The question is whether he should have opened the wallet to pursue Corey Seager. Or gone after Carlos Correa (his first FA year) with Correa potentially moving over to 3B depending on circumstances.

Not making a serious attempt at Seager or Harper was unforgivable though. And grounds for firing.

I think it was @Mantis Toboggan M.D. who had a detailed post about how Cashman thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. And rather than make the obvious decisions, he tries to get cute and find weird value...not realizing that at the end of the day, raw talent wins.

What? He was a good closer for a number of years and has a ring or 2. Definitely better than Verdugo.

I hope the Yankees realize after failing to get Yamamoto that Soto isn’t good enough.

Still need more for me to be willing to get to the stadium and have any excitement for this year.
