The only reason why I don't fully blame Cashman for signing him is because Yankee fans begged him to go after Rodon.

However, Cashman's unwillingness and inability to develop his own pitching is why he was even at that crossroad to begin with. He's the king of developing the guy who could turn out to be a solid reliever, but sucks as a starter. Until they stop trying to develop arms to master never going past 6 innings, they're gonna keep thinking the Carlos Rodon's of the world are a good idea.

If he’d gone after Castillo instead of cutting corners and going after Montas in hopes of looking smarter to the press, there’d have been no need to get Rodon in the first place.

No one would be begging for him if they knew it was spend on him and close the wallet. I don’t think people would be clamoring that much for him with that in mind.
