In addition to internal discussions about bringing up top catching prospect Austin Wells when rosters expand Sept. 1, the Yankees have considered promoting outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez in 2023, with the talks reaching as high as owner Hal Steinbrenner, multiple sources say.

They bout to run back the Baby Bombers
this bothers me so much. Why do the Yankees have to think either the season is completely cooked or we're in some rebuild to give these young kids a shot? Donaldson was ass all season. Coulda cut him in May and learned something about Peraza. Instead we let Tua Rizzovailoa play with CTE for 2 months! Bader coulda been dealt at the deadline and they coulda played Florial or Pereira and learned some more about them WHILE we were competing. Perhaps those kids coulda gave this slow old plodding team a much needed jolt. And this isn't based on some notion that the fans wouldn't accept this. We've been screaming for it.

I just want a front office who drafts people they think will be good (I don't wanna say like because Cashman LOVED Tyler Wade) and utilize them without thinking it's gonna cost us the season. "the season's over, fukk it" should not be the only impetus to play young guys from the system.

It feels like the only old dude the Yankees pulled the plug on when it was clear he was done since 2013 was A-Rod and that was more out of spite and so they wouldn’t have to pay him for homer #700, 714, or 715. Even that same year they let Texiera play out the string at first base when he was awful all year.

The A-Rod thing I kinda get (he was washed that year). Even then, they cut A-Rod and replaced him with Aaron Judge and it took them feeling like the season was over to do it. If the Yankees thought they were in it, they woulda kept parading A-Rod out there.

I’d give them the benefit of the doubt if Tex didn’t play the rest of the year and they also didn’t try to just refuse to pay him the bonus due in his contract for passing Willie Mays on the all time home run list the year before.

Tex was on the last year of his deal and was walking away. A-Rod still had another year left even though he got released.
