Exactly why I don't blame Boone for this catastrophe of a season.
The modern managers only real responsibility is to keep the clubhouse engaged during the grind. The fact that there haven't been any stories about fights, or a mutiny, or anonymous leaks during this shytshow of a season is a testament to how much they respect and rock with Boone.

He's gonna fall on the sword for 2023, but that doesn't actually solve anything other than provide a pound of flesh for WFAN callers to dig into.

The problem with Boone is that he’s a baseball lifer. The whole family is baseball. He has to know this is stupid but he parrots the dumb shyt.

If anything, Boone’s flaw IS that he’s every player’s friend. Phil Nevin isn’t the greatest manager, but if he sees someone half-assing it he will yank you from the game. Sometimes you have to call it how it is and he doesn’t do that. Instead of calling it unacceptable he’ll tell us how they’re doing nice things. If stating the obvious costs him his job, that’s an indictment on the team, not him. Instead he looks like a clown too.
