I don’t know much about the Yankees and how inconsistent they’ve been but this Braves team is a legit juggernaut at the plate. Our bats haven’t really been off this year, legit all 9 batters in our lineup can take you deep
Check what @Remote and myself have written about their GM Brian Cashman in this thread. Add it to Hal Steinbrenner not wanting to spend and not caring about winning while allowing cashman and team president Randy Levine to turn the clubhouse toxic with their arrogance, complacency, and no accountability and you have a dumpster fire organization. It’s basically as follows:

Cashman under Hal’s ownership has allowed the team to pass on stars for years in favor of washed up vets on the cheap because he won’t make a deal unless he feels like he’s getting one over on the other GM. He’s perpetually insecure about getting no credit for the 1996-2003 run that he has no hand in building. Gene Michael, Bob Watson, and the 1990 GM whose name I forget drafted and traded for all the greats while George personally worked the roger Clemens trade and Jason Giambi signing.

He won’t play the prospects that he won’t trade for stars even when said washed up vets he trades for on bad contracts turn out to suck. He then hangs onto said prospects until they lose all value. Feel free to scroll through the last 15-16 pages of this thread to see us all talk about in detail how badly they ruin prospects. 10 of their last 14 first round picks didn’t reach the majors. He also due to fear of the shift, his terrible analytics team, and his refusal to do it anyone’s way but his own, won’t get any lefty batters despite the stadium being designed to cater to lefty batters, guys who can run, or guys who hit for a high average. He regularly also plays guys out of position. He’s spent years without a catcher, shortstop, left fielder, or centerfielder. His philosophy is proven to not work over the past 20 years too as they’ve got a losing record in the postseason vs every team they’ve seen more than once except the twins. Since 2004 they’re 0-3 vs Boston, 0-3 vs Detroit, & 0-4 vs Houston and they still never change anything. Just make excuses, look for a scapegoat, call the playoffs a crapshoot and then run it back the next year. Their manager is very obviously nothing more than an incompetent puppet who does whatever the GM lays out as the plan. He had no managerial experience when he was hired to manage a team of young guys who got within 1 game of the World Series.

Cashman also due to his ego can’t get along with star players. He routinely lowballs them in negotiations and disrespects them to their face while leaking his offers to the press to try making the player look bad. He chases franchise legends out of town while showing them no respect. Jeter, A-Rod, Bernie Williams, and Aaron Judge all openly have problems with him for this reason. It’s not a coincidence that these guys are rarely around the team anymore and for what the Yankees have been about for their history, that’s a really bad look.

They’ve won their division just twice since 2013 and since 2002 have the worst track record in baseball at both developing prospects and getting wins out of the money they spend. Basically Hal is a terrible owner for every reason you can imagine and allows the worst GM in the sport to run the franchise however he sees fit.

As it relates to Hal, money is his only concern by his own admission. The 2017 team with young guys on the cheap got within 1 game of the World Series and he responded by cutting $31 million off the payroll by opening day 2018 even after his passing on Justin Verlander burned them when he beat them twice in the ALCS. He cut 20% off the payroll after 2020 as well and is planning to do it on 2024 as well. He’s the exactly type of owner his dad openly hated for ruining the sport.

the fact that they don’t have a combo of Dusty, Manny, Bryce, Verlander and Ohtani speaks volumes. Not saying they should have all of them but it starts with the manager.

Dusty took over a team of disgraced cheaters and they’ve been stunting for the past 4 seasons. It’s not like there was a bidding way for Dusty — or Ron Washington. Instead they went with a puppet who has a micro USB cord up his ass while ANALytics nerd feed him info. It’s insane and this mark ass buster never passed the eye test. He ran into a lucky pitch back in 2003 and been eating off of that ever since.

We even got good bench hitters. We are just really good and the players love being Braves.

It's crazy, the Yankees are still the Yankees to me but it seems like only Judge reps what it is to be a Yankee.

Hopefully they continue to get smashed in every non-Royals/As series. The implosion needs to be steep enough that Hal has no choice but to acknowledge it.

The Old Timers day charade with Jeter is a good sign, it means he's done playing stupid with the "confused about fans being upset" nonsense.

Whatever you do, don't take Ron. He will change your franchise. We love him here in Atlanta

The issue isn’t the analytics for the Yankees.
Every team uses analytics.

The Yankees seemingly use it in the worst possible ways though.

This team has to rebuild damn near everything because right now they are only good at making money.

The culture side has to start with Judge and he’s playing his position but every guy on that roster has to want to be there and the organization needs to make it clear they want to win.

This off-season they gotta retool it all. Boone has to go. Steve Nash could’ve done a better job as manager.

Frankly Aaron Judge needs to make a stink about this with ownership.

I’d keep it out of the media if I were him unless nothing changes.

I saw how well he did in Texas and whoever decided to bring him to Atlanta is a genius. You need a dude like this on your stuff either running the show or keeping an eye on shít but also being someone the players respect — not just listen to.

Those 90s/2000s Joe Torre Yankee’s teams worked because they had the right rosters in place but also the right coaches. And while George was on his George shyt, everyone was on the same page.

Facts.

Pull up to Hal and say “y’all spent $ on me so now it’s time to spend on the right cats to put around me”

No reason why he shouldn’t have elite defenders on left and right while he’s in center and not putting himself in danger like what happened at Dodger Stadium. Dude had to also keep it 100 and say Boone gotta go. While the sports world has eyes on Wemby in the fall the Yankees gotta go beast mode. Throw a bag at Ohtani or make someone else overpay. Then start targeting sluggers on teams that grossly underachieved — like the Padres.

Hire Jeter as an advisor at the very least or give him a real job. But if he’s gonna be lurking around then he needs a Magic Johnson type role. Cashman fumbled things at the end of Jeter’s career. Dude should’ve been with the team 5 seconds after he retired in some capacity — even if for the optics. Same with Alex. Dude has an incredible baseball mind that NO ONE is tapping into. Imagine if him and JLO bought the Mets. Yankee fans would be crying right now.

I read that when Ohtani posted from Japan he didn’t even listen to a pitch from the Yankees since he didn’t want to be on the East Coast.

If that’s true, the chances of him signing with the Yankees as a free agent now are probably zero.

Other players around the league must be paying attention to what’s going on in New York. They see the posts on Twitter. They see the videos of fans chanting for Cashman to be fired.

So if you’re a free agent this winter, why would you want to sign with the Yankees? Honestly. It’s a fair question.

The money is one thing. Sure.
But does this franchise have up and coming minor league talent? Not really. Is the team competitive? They’re in last place. Does ownership seem hungry to do everything to win? Not at all.

And does this franchise even seem like a fun environment to play in or is it a stiff, reserved culture where they still demand players to shave their facial hair?

I know that with all my critical comments of the Yankees it might seem like I hate them. But I’m actually a fan. I just wish they did a lot of things differently.

Candidly though the days of being a die hard fan of your home team are kind of over for me. I’ve come to admire and even root for lots of other teams in MLB.

That’s just how it is.
