Honestly, this reeks of the Boone hire, bringing in a guy with no experience

But at the same time, I did like Casey on the MLB Network. And I guess this could be considered an outside the box hire

I get that this Sean Casey video is trending but it's kinda stupid.

It's just a base running mistake.

Sean Casey was an excellent hitter in his career. But there's only so much a hitting coach can do to improve a team. Especially when you bring him on midseason. This might have been more impactful in the winter.

That said, the Yankees do project to hit better in the 2nd half. The problem is, because so many other teams in the American League played well in the 1st half, the Yankees are going to have to grind it out like a motherfukker to get the Wild Card. And that's assuming Judge comes back to the team -- which is not guaranteed.

Stanton, Rizzo and Torres have to carry this team in the 2nd half, and while I don't expect them to be elite, they are capable.

Volpe probably won't be as hot as he was in June, but if he can be league average the rest of the way, that's a big bonus -- especially if he can leverage his stolen base ability.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but looking at some of the statcast metrics, Josh Donaldson has really started laying into the baseball lately. He's making "final year in Minnesota" type contact. I'm not saying he's completely turning back the clock here because he's 37 years old and still strikes out a ton. But if by some miracle he's an .800-ish OPS guy in the 2nd half, that goes A LONG, LONG WAY toward getting the Yankees back into the hunt.

I still think Estevan Florial needs another look because I'm not convinced Harrison Bader is all that good. But he's a veteran and a pretty good defender so I kinda understand.

I asked this before over the last few years and I will ask again - are the Steinbrenner's broke on the low, do they have major debt or are they looking to meet certain objectives before selling the team in a couple years?

i don't know every major insurance company in the world, but i've never heard of Starr Insurance. :hubie:

Supposedly, it's more on the minority owners.

Wouldn’t shock me. From what I’ve read in recent years, the minority stake owners are even worse than Hal is.
