and they flat out lie and hide behind fukking statistics as if fans are gonna hear that and go ":manny: well if that's what the numbers said."

Any time they get pressed on this (which isn't often because then the team catches feelings and blocks your access) they don't have much in terms of answers. They all sound like they're lying or can't understand why something isn't working so they attribute it to crap like luck.

It's like what they really wanna do is put up a billboard that says "cmon guys winning isn't everything" but know that will cost them fans, but that's what they want us to come to terms with.
That’s the worst part of all, the way they lie to us about everything but especially with injuries. All they seem to work on is how to gaslight us and convince us that 85-90 wins and an early postseason exit while being an awful viewing experience every year is ok. I can’t be the only one tuning out, right?

This is why it’s so important that a good commissioner runs a sports league. A decent one would’ve told Hal to get his shyt together ages ago or he’d have stepped in on account of the harm he was bringing to his team and the league as a result like what Frank McCourt did with the dodgers until the league office stepped in. How is Hal letting cashman and Levine run this team into the ground because they keep the money rolling in any different? I hate to sound like that guy, but can you imagine George Steinbrenner allowing his GM to tell the press every winter after an early playoff exit or no playoffs that the playoffs are a crapshoot in an effort to take no accountability for his failing in the same way every year? They’re turning the biggest asset Major League Baseball has into a toxic brand whose own fanbase is growing to hate them and they’re so boring that I can’t imagine any out of market fan has any interest in watching any of their players beyond judge.

The thing that pisses me off with the luck/crap shoot playoff philosophy so just make the playoffs at all cost is that it’s bullshyt.

Yes to some degree playoffs is a crap shoot Phillies probably shouldn’t have made the World Series last year. I don’t think the Red Sox were the best team last time they won etc etc.

But I would rather be the best team in the league going into the playoffs. If you lose then you have the excuse of well playoffs is luck.

But when your team is garbage and you squeak in you can’t really use that excuse. When your hoping to be the team that gets lucky because you limped into the playoffs is not a good way to do business.

Fielding the best team in baseball is how you should be operating.

It radiates loser energy, which runs against everything the Yankees are supposed to be about. Hedging their bets. Either give us the parade or your absolute best effort as an organization.

I saw a rumor video on social media the other day that suggested the Yankees could try to trade for Juan Soto.

The idea being that the San Diego Padres have gotten a bit reckless with their spending and probably can't afford to offer Juan Soto a large enough contract to stay. The Yankees need a reliable Left Fielder who can get on base around Aaron Judge. Soto being a lefty also plays well in Yankee Stadium.

Moves would have to be made to clear up space for Soto in New York, and San Diego would definitely ask for Jasson Dominguez in return given that Soto is still Arb Eligible in 2024 and doesn't become a free agent until 2025.

It's not the worst trade idea I've ever heard, though it would be unlikely.

San Diego has under-performed this season and that's what drove this trade rumor. But the Padres project to play better in the 2nd half. The Yankees however need whatever offensive help they can get.

Would I do it? Sure.

Would I have traded Judge to do it? Yup.

Will the Yankees do it? No. I can't even get excited about anyone potentially on the block. Shohei Ohtani is gonna enter free agency and we can't even allow ourselves to think that he'll wear pinstripes, not because of a West Coast preference. Not because of a poor fit. Not because of injuries. Money.

George would do it.
I'm not sure Hal has that competitive spirit. He and the other Yankees owners have a more corporate....profit/loss ideology around running a baseball team.

Frankly they should sell the Yankees and buy the damn Marlins if they want to play that way.

The rumors are that Ohtani will be a Dodger and I can't see any reason why Ohtani would turn them down. They're already better than the Yankees and Ohtani's already playing in SoCal anyway. I'm sure injuries to Dustin May and Clayton Kershaw only make the Dodgers more eager to snag the top pitching FA in the game.

NYY would have to beat LAD's offer by 30 million for him to think about coming east.
